1.20.18 Walton has a wiry, long-limbed frame at 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. The left-handed hitter starts from a balanced, slightly open stance. Simple load back as he triggers his hands down and back before taking a short stride forward, landing square. Barrel stays in the zone a long time, working on a slightly uphill plane with an exit velocity of 79 mph. On the infield, Walton has a clean exchange into a short arm swing with a top velocity of 76 mph. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash.

10.21.17 - 5-foot-10, 144-pounds. The left-handed hitter starts from a wide base as he waggles the bat above his back shoulder, then triggers his hands back and down as he loads quickly, landing into a short stride. Slots the barrel early into the zone, working on an uphill plane with bat lag as he whips the barrel through the zone, creating lift and leverage at contact with a loose finish. Does a nice job of staying in his legs as he rotates his lower half to transfer his weight. Current line drive power (80 mph off the tee) with more to come in the future, with feel for the barrel. At shortstop, Walton has quickish footwork to the baseball and made accurate throws at 79 mph across the diamond. Before playing in the second game, Walton took an errant throw off his right hand, leaving seam marks. The sophomore shook it off, iced it down for about 10 minutes, then played well during the second game of the day, making a nice play on a chopper in the six hole, and roping a double backside down the left field line.

07.22.17 - 5-foot-9, 135-pounds, still developing frame with plenty of room to add strength as he continues to develop. A left-handed hitter, Walton has a balanced, neutral stance with a tall upper body. Triggers his hands back and down to start his load, short strider, quick rhythm, lands with athleticism creating torque and leverage as his hips rotate quickly to contact. Hands are quick and work well through the zone giving him a lot of room for error. Good barrel awareness and loose, high finish. Walton’s best offensive days are certainly ahead of him. On the infield, Walton has a short, clean arm stroke from a high-¾ slot. Softish hands with still developing footwork, look for his actions to improve as he continues to develop and play lower.

5-foot-8, 130-pound frame. In the box, Walton shows off a smooth left-handed swing with good rhythm. Starts with a wide base with good flex in his lower half. Loads down and back, creating natural tilt as he brings his hands into a launch position. Short stride with an aggressive lower half as he attacks the inside of the ball. Approach was good during batting practice with a lot of hard contact in the middle of the field. Exit velocity was 71 mph off the tee. Defensively, Walton flashes good hands and shows the ability to play through the ball. He threw 69 mph across the diamond. Walton ran an 8.7 second 60-yard dash.
