6-foot, 205-pound frame. Well defined lower half with good hip mobility. Threw well between innings with multiple 1.96 pop times, working with a short, quick arm slot and excellent carry. The right handed hitter has a solid set-up in the box with a push-back leg kick, athletic lower half, workable swing and loose finish. He had a double to right field and registered a 4.62 home-to-first time on the turn.
3/3/19: Athletic backstop with solid footwork and an above-average arm with a quick release behind the dish. All of his throws were to the bag for plus accuracy. Even without runners on base, he slid well laterally to either side to smother balls in the dirt. Offensively, there's some bat speed in the balanced, righthanded swing, but he struggled to recognize and adjust to offspeed pitches consistently early in the weekend. He appeared to be seeing the ball much better on Sunday, squaring the ball consistently against TCU, going 2-for-3 with a double and a sac fly and showing above-average raw power to the pull side. (Seifert)
10-28-2018: Collins has a strong, athletic frame for a catcher at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, The right-handed hitter has a line drive approach with a gap-power. Posted a 2.05 pop time with a quick transfer that makes up for his feet not getting square at times. Went 4-for-6 at the plate with a double. (Kelly)
