04.21.17 - 6-foot-5, 220-pound, projectable frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a medium arm stroke. His fastball ranged from 81-85 mph. Although his fastball was straight for most of the outing, when he got on top of the ball it flashed good tilt and downward angle. His breaking ball flashed depth and tight rotation, but he was inconsistent with his command of it, missing down to his glove side. Ruble’s first inning was a rough one, but he did settle down and strike out the last two batters in the first. He worked a clean second inning, and worked out of a jam in the third. His final line was 4 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 4 K, 2 BB, HBP. With Ruble’s projectable frame, he is an arm that college recruiters will want to keep a close eye on.
10-28-2018: 6-foot-4, 220-pound durable frame. The right-hander works from a high- slot and showed solid command of 4 pitches in and around the zone. Features two different curveballs, one of which projects more down the road as a slider. Curveball really falls off the table at 75-76 with an 11/5 shape, while the slider has tight spin and comes in at 78-80 with a 10/4 shape. Changeup was spotted exceptionally well at 76-77 with good run, while the fastball sat 89-91 and up to 92. (Kelly)
