4.6.18 Texas A&M commit. Englert has a very projectable, long-limbed, athletic frame at 6-foot-5, 195-pounds. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a loose, quick arm stroke and an athletic, repeatable delivery. Filled up the zone with his fastball that sat mostly 89-91 mph, touching 92 in the first (94 on another gun). The pitch has late life with good sink and flashes some steep angle. Threw two different breaking balls, a sharp slider with short, late 11/5 break at 79-83. The other more of a 12/6 curveball with downer shape at 73-75 mph. Mixed in a changeup at 80 mph, but it was mostly a fastball/slider kind of day, with the occasional curveball. Threw 74% strikes, allowed only one hit, struck out 15, and only faced two over the minimum in the complete game effort. Held his velocity well through five innings, touching 93 in the third, and still pumping 92 twice in the fifth. The athleticism and command, combined with the projectable frame and life on his fastball could make Englert a high pick in the draft this year, as there appears to be more velocity in the tank.
06.20.17 - Texas A&M recruit. 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot. His fastball was 88-89 mph. He threw his slider 78-80 mph with lateral break.
Summer 2016 - 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame. One of the top arms in the 2018 class. Hard-nosed competitor. Fastball velocity ranges from 89-93 with life. Shows a swing-and-miss slider with great command.
