6/17/19

Powerful 6-foot-4, 220-pound body, moves with poise on the mound. Deliberate tempo, engages lower half well toward the plate. Medium arm swing and up to ¾ slot. Fastball worked 83-86, topping 87 mph, with occasional running action. Power sinking changeup thrown at 78-80 was heavy at finish. Showed a sharp downward breaking slider at 76 mph, and a larger bending 12/6 shape curveball at 71-75 mph.

1.5.19
Carlton has a strong, durable frame at 6-foot-5, 230-pounds. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm swing and a tall-and-fall delivery with athletic finish. Scattered his fastball around the zone at 83-86 mph, flashing steep angle when located at the bottom. Curveball had early break with 11/5 rotation at 71-75 mph. Good feel for the changeup at 77-80 with same arm speed.

8.5.18
Carlton stands 6-foot-5, with a strong, durable, pitcher’s frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a medium arm stroke. Although he had scattered command of his fastball at 84-85, hitters were not picking the ball up when it was in the zone, as he got weak contact on two of his outs. Throws an 11/5 curveball at 69-72, and shows feel for a changeup at 71-72.

7.23.18
At 6-foot-5, 225-pounds, Carlton has a durable frame for a junior. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a short arm stroke and quick hand out front. Tall-and-fall delivery, lands slightly across his body. His fastball was 82-85 with occasional tilt. His curveball shows signs of becoming a quality pitch with 11/5 shape at 70-72, flashing good depth when his hand stays on top of the ball.
