Hoffman is a tough lefty to square up, with everything showing action. Early in his outing he pitched off his CB (73–75 mph) and SL (77–79 mph), both spinning in the 2400–2500 rpm range. By the second inning he found his fastball feel, and the three-pitch mix led to three strikeouts.
Carter Hoffman, Wichita Fall Memorial (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: LHP/OF LHP: Solid lefty arm with arm speed and movement to his ball. FB sat 86-88 and T89 with some ASR. Will accelerate his body too soon on FB and lose some command. Better feel for spin because he doesn't try to overthrow. Has CB and SL with good rpm. Can throw either in any count. Nothing is straight. A ton of upside and will make big strides with small adjustments.
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Solid frame/build to add strength in future. Avg width to shoulders and back. Good lower.
Delivery: Small rock step with a med/high leg lift. Repeatable delivery. Drives down the mound and finishes over front side. Ability to better control tempo and seperation to improve command.
Arm Action: LH. Compact arm action with H3/4 slot. Arm speed present.
FB: T89, 86-88 mph. Arm speed and ASR present. Command will improve with tempo and seperation adjustments. T2206, 2050 average rpm.
CB: 72-72 mph. Feel for spin. Has sweeping action with some depth. T2476, 2476 average rpm.
SL: 73-77 mph. Firm with sweeping action. Feel for spin. T2499, 2321 average rpm.
Projectable left-hander with presence and feel. Long arm action with some early wrap, but finishes well. Fastball worked up to 89 mph with late tail. Curveball up to 75 mph with solid spin, shape, and feel. Settled in after early command hiccups and dominated the rest of the outing. Polished delivery with more in the tank. Left-handed arm that should keep trending up.

Positional Profile: LHP/OF LHS with good build/frame to add strength. Solid delivery overall, got little quick trying to overthrow causing arm drag/late. Arm works fine, hook present, gets out of early. When on time, stuff was good. Look for FB to increase in future, ability to work both sides of plate. Solid spin to baseball, shows feel for action, pitch has ability to get swing and miss. Developing LHP who can spin baseball.
Body: 5-11, 166-pounds. Good build/frame to add strength, shows some width to shoulders and back. Projects well physically.
Delivery: Side step rocker, high knee lift with inward turn. Nice use of back leg in delivery. Middle rubber start with cross step delivery. Solid getting over front side. Spinoff finish. Tried to overthrow early, causing arm to drag. When on time, stuff was solid.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm action, hooks to back side. Comes out of hook early. H 3/4 slot with good finish. Got quick with delivery, causing arm to drag at times.
FB: T89, 82-88 mph. Solid FB velocity with tailing action increasing to arm side. Ability to work in/out with FB, creates some angle with cross step delivery. Look for velocity to creep up some in future. T2176, 2007 average rpm.
CB: 70-74 mph. Shows ability to spin baseball, lands with solid action. Definite feel for CB, swing and miss pitch at HS level, will continue to develop. Manipulates action at times. T2430, 2235 average rpm.
Carter Hoffman continues to impress with his well-rounded arsenal. His fastball sits 85-88 mph with sharp horizontal movement, making it tough to square up. He also shows a good curveball with solid shape, and his changeup is effective. Hoffman is an athletic mover down the mound, showing good fluidity in his delivery. As a 2026 LHP, he's one to watch, and he'll be a big name to follow this summer. He still has a lot of room to put on weight, and I expect his numbers to continue to improve.
It was the first in-person look for the Prep Baseball Texas staff at LHP Carter Hoffman (WF Memorial, 2026), and he quickly grabbed their attention with an easy, athletic delivery. The Wichita Falls lefty has a projectable frame and a quick arm, topping 88–89 mph on his fastball with 20 inches of induced vertical break. He also mixes in a 71–75 mph breaking ball and an 80–81 mph changeup, both thrown with confidence. Hoffman looks poised to be a major riser in the 2026 class.
