Iverson is an athletic small catcher that plays bigger than his size would indicate. Quick twitched and very mobile with agility and wiry strength, a “Black Belt” in karate, he is able to use that flexibility and athleticism, while putting to use on the field. A switch hitting catcher that is also a 4.0 student with a 30 ACT, Luke is a coach's dream academically. But on the field, Iverson shows some advanced skills behind the plate, with the ability to catch velocity and frames and stick pitches. Additionally he shows the ability to block and quick to drop and recover and gets out of the box quick on balls in front. The thing that catches your eye, is an eye popping plus arm with clothesline accuracy, while putting his throws on the money. Luke is a mirror from both sides of the plate, as he brings his front side back and into his back side and then loads the bat and gets momentum coming forward with a compact quick store, as he stays inside the baseball and finishes with a one hand and two hand finish, depending on swing location. Iverson had two 2B’s in game action from the left side of the plate and worked well with pitchers, showing leadership qualities!

From an athleticism standpoint with actions, quick twitch and arm stroke, Iverson can catch and throw with the best of them. Although slight of build and not built like a catcher, he does show the tools and skills to play all over the diamond and posted a 2nd best event 81 mph arm behind the plate and also showing a 2nd best INF arm of 84 mph with easy glove actions. The pop times are some of the best and although not in a game, where pop times slow down and you don’t know you are throwing like a showcase, Luke still generated 1.82-1.94 pop times. Along with being a switch hitter, an interesting side note, is this past winter, Iverson achieved his Black Belt in Karate!

A small package, but can really catch and throw with a switch hitting catchers profile. A “Swiss Army Knife” type player that can handle multiple positions all around the diamond and play them well. As a catcher he fired the best pop times of the event from 1.89-1.94 and didn’t cheat. He has quick feet with a clean exchange and the arm is fluid fast and quick. The arm plays to the naked eye and what he lacks in big arm strength, he makes up for with technique and throws online ropes to 2B. At SS he has educated feet and measures his feet with some dance and is on his toes while fielding out front with comfort to the backhand. The throws have something on them and are accurate. The bat from both sides of the plate are a mirror image of each other. He leans back with a tilt into a leg lift and holds for a split second to gauge the pitch and location, then makes his approach to the baseball with a compact slightly uphill stroke with length out front, into a full two hand finish. A student of the game and colleges need to get on this kid, as he brings versatility.  Can out catch most guys with bigger frames and move around the field to keep his athleticism in play moving forward.
