Baird is a George Mason commit, he has a lankier athletic frame with some strength present and some projection left to it. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short quick loose arm action with some effort to his delivery. Crossfire drop and drive delivery, shoulders are slightly uphill and closed, lands closed with a slight fall off finish and recoil. Fastball was 84-87, touching 88 with some downward angle and a bit of late armside run, pitch rides some when he throws it at the top of the zone. Curveball was 61-62 with some armspeed and sharp hard 11/5 almost 12/6 break to it. Change-up was 72-73 with good armspeed and a bit of late run. Gets swings and misses with his fastball, shows control of the pitch and can move it around the zone. Struck out 10 hitters in his first 3 innings, including 7 batters in a row at one point. Most of his strikeouts came on fastballs near the top of the zone, high spin on his fastball.

Baird has an athletic frame with projection left to it. Throws from a three-quarters slot with an loose quick arm action and very easy delivery. Fastball was 82-84, touched 86 once, pitch had good late run. Short outing, only threw about 7 pitches total in his inning. Commanded fastball well to the corners.

Preseason All-State II

Baird is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from an open crouched athletic stance, strides on line, loads back and down, hips rotate completely, has some balance during his swing. Takes hands straight to contact point and keeps them inside ball, slightly uphilll path, line drive swing, showed good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 79. In the infield, clean feet, rounds ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands. Plays through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, free arm action, position velocity was 81. On the mound, he throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot with short loose arm action that is quick and normal effort. Shoulders on line and level, lands closed and finishes with some recoil and fall off. Fastball was 80-81 with some run and sink when thrown down to armside. Slider was 66-68 with sharp hard 10/4 break and good armspeed. 

1.27.18:  Baird is 5-10 with a lankier athletic frame, hits from the right side from a balanced stance. Strides on line, smooth load back, rhythm to his swing. Hips rotate completely, maintains some balance during his swing. Gets barrel to ball quickly, slightly uphill path with extension through the ball. Showed good approach working middle of the field, line drive swing with potential for gap power, exit velocity was 76. At short, works around the ball a bit, fields with a good wide base and above average hands. Clean transfer, throws from lower three-quarters slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 72. On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter arm action that has some whip to it. Normal effort to delivery, shoulders uphill and slightly closed, lands on line with an athletic finish. Fastball was 73-75 with some late life. Curveball had some armspeed and gradual 11/5 break that should tighten up, pitch was 57-59. Splitter was 61-62 with some armspeed and sharp dive to it. Change-up had some armspeed and was 64-65.
