Carnley has a compact athletic frame standing around 5-foot-10. The MIF/RHP is uber competitive in everything he does. Deep at bats at the plate that is generally a table setter and contact driven hitter, but flashed a little pop on Saturday. In his second at bat Carnley hit a three run home run out of left field. This is the second time I have seen Carnley on the mound and he has done the job both times. He is not going to overpower anyone, but he is going to pitch. Spins it for strikes, mixes it up, and changes slots.

Preseason All-State II

Athletic frame standing 5-foot-9, 165-pounds. At the plate he starts with a square athletic stance before small leg lift to stride landing slightly closed. Hands are back and have minimal load. Short path to contact with a level swing working gap-to-gap with line drive tendency. Flashed some doubles power to the pullside. Exit velocity was 75 mph. Defensively he works outside to catch, glove presents out front, and showed soft hands. It is a clean exchange and a short-arm circle displaying the ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Positional velocity was 78 mph with accuracy across. Ran a 4.14 Home-1st.

Athletic frame standing around 5-foot-8. Offensively had some solid deep at bats that he worked for walks and shows some promise at the plate just needs some time to grow and add strength. Threw well for the Saints when facing Deep Run in the 3rd place game. Got into some tough situations versus a potent offense and worked his way out of a few of them showing some poise for a freshman versus an upperclassmen led team. Threw five and one-third innings giving up five earned runs and striking out six along the way. Fastball sat at 74-75 mph for the majority of the day and touched 77 mph a few times. Curveball had 11/5 shape and showed some depth at 62-64 mph. Curveball was definitely the out pitch for Carnley and had ability to throw it in any count. When not pitching he played second and had nice actions and threw with a short arm action. Doesn't have the arm strength right now to play the left side, but should be able to move over with some added arm strength.
