Today is our first portion of the breakdown on players from the 16U/15U bracket of the Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships that occurred last week.
Brighton Berthrong C/UTL West Stokes (NC) 2022
Athletic, strong, physical body type. Rhythmic load with quick hands and fast bat speed through the zone. Line drive type approach and worked mostly middle to pull side. Ball jumps off the bat with loud contact. Keeps hands inside the ball well with a solid feel for the barrel. Consistently made hard contact during the day. Hit a long homerun to left field in the first game today and followed it up with a single and double to left field in the second game.

Jermaine Faulkner OF East Columbus 2022
Athletic, projectable frame. Speedy outfielder that can cover ground. Athletic footwork with clean exchanges consistently. Aggressive hitter with quick hands and fast speed through the zone and solid extension past contact. Short swing with line drive tendencies to the pull side. Consistent hard, loud contact.
Strong, athletic, projectable frame. Short, compact, rhythmic swing with a good feel for the barrel. Fluid actions at the dish with a strong lower half and explosive hips. Stays on the ball well, keeping his hands inside the ball consistently. Middle of the field, line drive approach. Went 3-3 with three hard line drives up the middle.

Jahiem Green OF North Stafford 2021
Physical athlete with raw strength and tools. Twitchy actions offensively and defensively. At the plate shows an athletic stance and simple step to stride. Hands are quiet on load and short to contact. It is a level path swing that is quick in and out of the zone. Could benefit from the barrel staying in the zone longer and finishing through contact. Is a high end runner with plenty of range in the outfield. Ran a video confirmed 4.4 on the turn and a 4.07 home to first also video confirmed. - Jason Burton
Strong, athletic body type and 5'10'', 195 pound frame. One of the most electrifying athletes we saw on the diamond. Showed present strength and power at the plate driving one deep over the center fielders head in his second at bat for an inside the park homerun. Has the ability to disrupt the game with his speed on the bases. Strong lower half and fast bat speed. - Kyle Campbell

Jacob VanBenschoten 2B/SS Courtland 2022
Compact athletic frame. Short path to contact and barrel stays on with gap to gap line drive approach. Is a solid defender up the middle with hands that work out front and a clean exchange and short arm action. Should continue to progress as he continues to grow and add strength.
Michael Arce RHP/1B Mountain View 2022
Long athletic frame with some present strength. Hands break to a slower arm circle on the backside before arm whips through from high three-quarter slot. Had two appearances on the mound in the tournament and featured a fastball that generally sat 77-80 with some 81's mixed in. Fastball displayed solid cut action and was able to pitch at both ends of the zone.- Jason Burton
Tall, athletic, projectable frame. Controlled side-step wind-up and fluid delivery. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Fastball was 77-79 mph and touched 81 with plus cut. - Kyle Campbell

Braden Hamilton RHP/Util. Mountain View 2022
Threw a complete game versus Team Elite 16U where Hamilton filled up the zone with two pitches, mainly featuring the fastball. Arm is long and loose from a low three-quarter arm slot and induces arm side run and weak contact. Fastball sat 77-81 and touched 82 a few times throughout with run to both sides of the plate. Breaking ball was average with 10/4 shape at 67-68 mph and was more of a get over type pitch. Competed in the zone throughout the game and plays with energy.

Ty Broughton C Washington (WV) 2022
Strong, athletic 5'11'', 180 pound frame. Showed good plate discipline and feel for the barrel. Singled through the left side and ripped a double to the left center field gap. Stays short to the ball with some bat speed and level swing path. Also did a really nice job behind the plate with the pitchers and received the ball well.

Conner Kingery RHP Richmond Braves 16U
Athletic, projectable frame. Produced weak contact consistently in his outing vs Team Elite American. Short, quick arm from a low three-quarter slot. Fastball had some arm side run with dive at the end. Fluid delivery and gets over his front hip well. Fastball worked both sides of the plate and sat 80-82 mph. Slider sat 66-67 mph with sharp, late bite.

Landon Miller RHP Nansemond River 2023
Tall, lanky 6'3'', 165 pound frame. Controlled side-step wind-up and high leg kick to a high balance point. Long, free arm action and over the top delivery. Gets over the front side well with some lower half drive. Throws from a high three-quarter slot with easy effort. Fastball sat 71-73 mph, change-up ranged 65-68 mph, and the breaking ball showed some 11/5 shape at 60-61 mph.

6’3” 165 pound tall, lanky frame. Long, free arm action and over the top delivery. FB sat 71-73 mph, CH ranged 65-68 mph, and BB showed some 11/5 shape at 60-61 mph.

Mark Moore LHP Fluvanna County 2022
Athletic frame. Worked out of the stretch with a high leg kick into a compact balance point. Clean hand separation and delivery. Throws with shorter arm action from a three-quarter slot with easy effort. Strong drive down the mound landing slightly closed to home plate. Gets over the front side well. and gets over his front side Fastball sat 70-72 mph with an off-speed offering that sat 62-64 mph with some depth to it.

Jake Genzler OF/RHP First Colonial 2022
Tall, athletic, projectable frame with plenty of room to fill out. Throws with some intent from a high three-quarter arm slot. Quick, loose arm action. Fastball sat 81-84 mph with slight arm-side run and breaking ball was 71-73 mph with 11/5 shape. Showed a short, quick swing at the plate hitting from a wide base. Stays through the ball well.
Kyle Reviello RHP/SS King George 2022
Strong, athletic frame. Worked up-tempo pounding the zone consistently with a 76-79 mph fastball and 63-64 mph breaking ball with big 11/5 shape. Gets down the mound hard with strong lower half drive. Finishes over the front side. Throws from a high three-quarter near over the top slot with shorter arm action. Struck out six in three innings of work. Was outstanding at the plate consistently barrelling balls. Strength and easy power present at the plate. Stays short to the ball with a slightly uphill swing path and showed quick bat speed through the zone.

Camden Nuckols RHP/1B St. Christopher's 2022 (VCU)
Strong, physical frame and imposing presence in the box. Strength and power present. Showed an easy uphill swing path and works the hands well. Strong lower half involvement. Started game two for the Breeze on the bump working with tempo. Side-step wind-up and high leg kick with strong lower half drive down the mound. Ball jumps out of the hand with light effort. Pounded the zone making quick work of the top of the order in the first inning sitting 85-87 mph with the fastball and mixed in a change-up at 75-78 mph and a breaking ball with 11/5 shape at 67-69 mph. Struggled to find some control of the fastball in the second inning leaving it up in the zone at times. Throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with quick arm speed.

Jacob Carnley SS/RHP St. Christopher's 2022
Athletic frame. Worked in relief in game one showing excellent command. Worked quick and pounded the zone with a 77-79 mph fastball and a 65-66 mph breaking ball with tight spin and big 11/5 shape. Controlled wind-up and fluid delivery. Throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarter slot. Lands in-line with home plate and showed some quick arm speed through release. Struck out four in two innings of work. Barrelled some balls at the plate with a short, quick stroke and slightly uphill swing path. Stays on the ball well and showed a middle of the field line drive approach.

Jacob Miller-Bopp RHP/SS Walsingham Academy 2022
Athletic frame. Pounded the zone with good control of both a fastball and curveball. Throws with short, quick arm action from a high three-quarter slot. Fastball sat 83-84 mph with 2300+ spin and breaking ball was 66-69 mph with big 11/5 shape. Big day at the plate sitting in the middle of the order. Uses the whole field well and showed an advanced feel for the barrel. Smooth back load, quick hands and stays short to the ball with quick bat speed.
