Listed at 6-foot-3 and 215-pounds, Farmelo is a physical specimen. Athletic makeup, present strength throughout, and the strength is especially visible in the lower half. Last season I had a chance to see Farmelo during the high school season. He was playing shortstop for Westfield and it was easy to see his athleticism on display, even though his long term position will quite possibly be centerfield. At the plate Farmelo starts in a wider athletic stance. It is a simple efficient pick up to stride, hands have minimal load as they are pre-set, and he is short to contact. Farmelo is able to generate plenty of bat speed from his approach that will allow his power to play. His short approach to contact and balance accompanied with the length of time the barrel is in the zone display adjustability in the swing.

Farmelo is a Virginia commit, he has an athletic 6-1 frame with longer limbs and some projection left to it. Multi-sport athlete, a lot of quick-twitch in him. At the plate, hits from the left side, balanced athletic stance, quiet simple set-up, short stride on line and short smooth load back. Hips rotate completely and very quickly, great lower half balance at and through contact. Short and very quick to the ball, very fast bat, slightly uphill swing path with strength at contact. Shows easy gap power to all fields now with still potential for more to come. Also shows barrel feel and chance to hit for high average along with power.

First thing you notice about Farmelo is the frame. Listed at 6-foot-1, 185-pounds and looks every bit of it. Athletic frame and is filled out nicely with visible strength throughout, especially in the back and chest. Started at shortstop for Westfield. Did not get too much in game action at short. In pre-game Farmelo worked outside and through the catch, feet were active on approach, and displayed average arm strength across. Arm action was short from a higher three-quarter arm slot. Open athletic stance at the plate, hands are set back, and a small lift to stride landing on line. Short to contact with a slightly uphill finish.
