6.3.16:  McGinnis is a tall, projectable, lanky righthander that throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery. Short arm action with a lightning quick arm, normal effot. Level shoulders that are closed, lands square and falls off as finishes. Fastball has big downward plane and late boring action, sat 88-91 and touched 92. Maintained full velocity from the stretch. Change-up was 79-81 with some sink. Curveball had late, power 11/5 action, running 77-80. He was pitching at the top of the zone most of the outing.
McGinnis is a tall, lanky righty with long limbs that give him a frame that is very projectable. He throws from a high three-quarters slot and does a very good job of keeping himself on line to the target. He gets full extension and finishes in an athletic position without falling off. His arm action is long and loose, and his ball is very heavy.  He is consistently 84-87 on the mound and has been up to 89 mph.

As a prospect, McGinnis has a very high ceiling because of his frame and loose arm. He figures to at be a top end Division I pitcher. Depending on how he fills his frame out, he could develop into a professional prospect before he graduates high school.

3.19.15:  Threw from a high ¾ arm slot.  From the full wind up, sat 84-86 mph, touched 88.  FB was heavy and had a lot of downward plane.  In the stretch, sat 84-85 mph in his two innings.  Had a hard, late 12/6 breaking ball at 74-75 mph.

PIS Showcase Highlights:  McGinnis’ fastball was 84-85 on the day and showed a bit of late arm-side run. He showed good command of a good curveball, which ran anywhere between 12-6 and 11-5 with good late action, and was 71-73. McGinnis also threw a change-up with good arm speed that had some late fade and should be an effective pitch for him. Across the board his command of all three pitches was outstanding.

Top Prospect Games 11/8-11-9:  McGinnis stands a lanky 6-5. He throws from a high three-quarters slot with a quick, loose arm action. His shoulders are closed at power position and he does a very good job of staying on line to a complete follow through. McGinnis’ fastball worked from 84-86 and touched 87 with some late run on it. His command was a bit inconsistent on the day, but was outstanding at times. McGinnis primarily used his fastball but also showed a 12/6 power curveball that ran 73 mph.
