The Hampden-Sydney commit got the start on the mound and had a very strong outing. Threw six and two thirds innings, piling up eleven strikeouts along the way. Arnold also only allowed two scattered singles and one walk over the course of his outing. Three pitch mix, relying heavily on the fastball-curveball combination. Arnold has a short arm circle and works from a high three-quarter arm slot. Moved the fastball in and out well while the velocity maintained 81-85 mph throughout his outing. The curveball had bigger 12/6 shape and above average feel for it around the zone. The curveball sat in the 69-71 mph range and he tended to lean on it heavily to finish counts, as he did not show it quite as much as a get ahead breaking ball. The changeup was effective when used, especially to left handed hitters. It showed late fade to the arm side at 74-76 mph.

Arnold is 5-11 with an athletic frame that has some projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Keeps hands inside, quick to ball with strength at contact. Slightly uphill swing path, line drive swing with some carry in gaps, showed good approach working primarily gap to gap, exit velocity was 86. In the infield, rounds ball and fields with a good wide base and above average hands. Works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a short arm action, infield velocity was 81. Showed versatility throwing from behind the plate as well, where his position velocity was 75 and pop times were 2.11-2.19. Ran a 7.40 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a longer arm action that is free and quick, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and slightly closed, lands on line with an athletic finish, simple repeatable delivery. Fastball 80-82, touching 83, with downward plane and a bit of late run to armside. Curveball was 69-72 with good armspeed and late 11/5 break.
