Preseason All-State III
Gorbett is 5-11 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a taller balanced athletic stance, strides on line, loads back. Hips rotate completely and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill swing with some extension through the ball, exit velocity was 81. Behind the plate, showed some sway receiving, clean exchange, throws from a lower three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 74 and pop times 2.06-2.18. Showed versatility taking balls in the infield where his velocity was 82. Ran a 7.39 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, long loose arm action that is quick and normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 76-79, touching 80, with some run to armside. Curveball had some armspeed and was 67-69 with hard 12/6 break. Change-up had good armspeed and was 69-71 with some sink. Slider was 72-73 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break.
Mid-Atlantic Summer Championship
Gorbett has an athletic frame with long limbs that has a lot of projection left to it. At the plate, hits from the right side and shows a simple swing with some batspeed and feel for his barrel. Keeps hands inside and has some extension to his path that is slightly uphill. Line drive hitter now with potential to have some extra base power or more in the future. On the mound, drop and drive delivery, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short quick arm action and normal to easier effort. Fastball was 74-76, touching 78, with late boring action to it. Slider was 68-70 with good armspeed and late 10/4 break. Chance to add velocity as he continues to grow and mature.
Freshmen Free Showcase
Gorbett is 5-10 with an athletic frame that has projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly upright open athletic stance. Strides on line, loads back to a slight wrap, hips rotate completely, maintains some balance during swing. Hands stay inside ball, slightly uphill swing path, strength at contact with extension through the bal,l showed very good approach working gap to gap, potential for some power as he continues to get stronger, exit velocity was 78. At short, rounds ball, fields with wider base with above average hands. Works through the ball to a clean exchange, throws from the low three-quarters arm slot. Arm action is free, infield velocity 73. Ran 4.33 home to first.
