USA CNT TRIALS: Agnos earned All-America honors for his two-way prowess as a junior at East Carolina, where he served as the starting shortstop and a key bullpen stopper. He was drafted as a pitcher by the Rockies in the 10th round last week and figures to begin his professional career. On the mound, Agnos is an aggressive competitor with a simple delivery and a high slot. He attacked the zone at 93-94 mph for Team USA, and his best secondary pitch is an excellent sinking 83-85 changeup that he’ll throw to lefties and righties alike. That’s a swing-and-miss pitch, and he can mix in an inconsistent slider at 78-82 against righties. Agnos has superb makeup and cannot be fazed in tight spots, as he showed by escaping bases-loaded jams in both regionals and supers.

Agnos has an athletic frame, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action that is very quick, throws with some effort. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands a bit closed and falls off as he finishes with some recoil as well. Fastball sat 88-91 early, touching as high as 92. Pitch has late run to it with a bit of depth. Movement is heavy when thrown down to armside, showed ability to command his fastball to both sides of the plate. Held velocity in a stressful outing, still working in the 88-90 range before he came out. Change-up was used sparingly, has good armspeed and has heavy sink to it. Curveball was 72-75 in the game with 11/5 action that was gradual, shape was good but bite wasn't there on this day. Feel of curveball was off, looked to be slowing his arm to spin it, tipping it a bit. Kept battling until he was taken out of the game, showed that he can compete when he doesn't have his best feel.

Agnos looked smooth at short and moved well, arm has strength. At the plate, has a fast bat and gap power. Has some projection left to frame. On the mound, sat 87-90 from a low three-quarters slot, fast arm and some effort to his delivery. Fastball had late hard run to it. Change-up had good armspeed and heavy fading action at 79. Curveball had sharp hard 10/4 break at 73, pitch has a chance to be plus as he learns to throw it harder.
4.25.17: Projectable frame with room to fill out. Compact, build up style delivery gaining momentum. Sound, quick arm action throwing from a high three-quarter slot. Creates fast arm speed while pitching with effort. Fastball had slight run and was 86-88 in the first inning, then ranged from 83-86 throughout with occasional 87 in spots from second thru-fifth. Breaking ball has shorter 10/4 action with later break on the pitch at 74 – 76. Was able to back door the pitch at times with a cutter/changeup to lefties at 75. More in the tank. Quick hands at the plate as a table setter. Gap-to-gap ability with a level swing path and quick bat speed. Taller set up, simple load with leg kick. Leg kick got him out of balance at times, diving more than controlled.
10.12.15 Agnos is an athletic fielder who throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a strong arm. He has fluid footwork and good actions to go with a clean exchange. At the plate, Agnos hits from an open, athletic stance and has a leg kick stride and smooth back load. He has an explosive lower half and maintains balance throughout his swing. He has good bat speed and a short, fluid swing that generates line drives. On the mound, Agnos throws from a high three-quarters arm slot and has a loose, quick arm that generates easy velocity. His fastball has downhill plane and slight late run to it, and sat 79-82, touching 83 in his first inning of work. His slider was late and sharp with 10/4 action and ran 69. It has the chance to develop into a plus offering as he gets stronger and increases his spin rate.
