Herzog is 5-9 with a lankier athletic frame that has plenty of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance, strides on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains some lower half balance. Hands stay inside, short to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path, showed a good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 74. In the infield, rounds the ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through ball to a clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters slot, position velocity was 76. Ran a 7.58 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a three-quarters arm slot, short loose arm action and some effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with a fall-off finish and some recoil. Fastball was 76-79, with late hard armside run. Curveball had good armspeed and was 70-72 with sharp hard 11/5 break to it, good shape and chance to be a swing and miss pitch.
Positional Profile: SS
Body: 5-foot-9, 135-pounds. Projectable with room to add more.
Hit: RHH. taller set up with high hands, rock back load with some rhythm. Hands are direct to the ball with some extension. Shows some bat speed that should get better as he gets stronger.
Power: 66 mph exit velocity from the tee. Should develop as he adds to the frame.
Arm: RH. INF - 76 mph. Clean arm circle throwing from over the top slot.
Defense: Active feet, moves well, gets into good position. Works thru baseball and changes direction quickly.
Run: 4.97 Home-to-first time
