Heartland Scout Day: Tall, strong-framed lefty at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds. Fastball up to 83 with some sink. Compact/full arm path with shoulder stiffness. Solid extension out front. Some depth to 68-89 mph curveball, landed for consistent strikes. Added a straight 71-74 mph change of pace as useable third pitch.
3.12.17 - 6-foot-5, 220-pound left-handed pitcher. Healthy and regained his form we saw two years ago. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery with a hybrid setup. Works in line with home plate with a closed toe landing. Fastball has heavy, late running action at 86-87 mph. Curveball has 2-8 shape with sharp breaking action at 69-71 mph. Changeup has fading action at 74-77 mph with fading action.
Future Games 2016 - 6-foot-5, 220-pound left-handed pitcher, extra-large frame, thick build. Delivery works upright, closed landing, finishes to third base side. Arm action is long, plays out of high ¾ window. Fastball played at 80-83 mph, touched 84 mph. Curveball worked at 70-74 mph, 1/7 plane. Changeup at 74-75 mph, slight fading action.
7.20.15 - Long lean projectable frame, ideal pitchers body, 6-foot-4, 195-pound left-handed pitcher. Athletic pitcher, tall and fall delivery, minimal effort, repeats well with squared landing and stays online. Arm action is loose, free and easy, high ¾ slot, quick arm projects for more velocity. Creates good arm side action on fastball, pounded the zone at 80-82 mph, touching 83 mph. Breaking ball has 10/4 shape, sharp late action, thrown confidently with fastball arm speed, 69-72 mph. Flashed a changeup at 72 mph. Pothast showed swing and miss stuff in the hitting zone with a big presence and moxy on the mound, competes well with athleticism, also showed advanced pick move for his age. High-level 2018 prospect.
3.15.15- High ceiling left-handed pitcher, 6-foot-3, 175-pounds, very projectable, long lean frame that will fill out. Tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, stays inline, level shoulders and squared landing. Quick arm action, short and loose, projects for much more velocity. Fastball showed late run to arm side, showed ability to command, 79-80 mph, touched 81 mph. Slider showed downer action, 62-64 mph. Excellent feel for changeup, fastball similar arm action, fades to arm side with action in the hitting zone, good control, 67-68 mph. High follow left handed pitcher that could project into one of the top arms in the area.
