3/06/22

His delivery is athletic down the mound with an efficient lower-half, creating easy power from his 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. Carpenter’s arm plays long out of the glove into a loose ¾ slot, generating a fastball that worked its way up to 88 mph with arm-side finish through the zone. His curveball looks to have wipeout potential, playing off a 1/7 plane with sharp action and finishing with depth through the zone. Carpenter’s changeup looks to be an above-average, change-of-pace offering as well, fading heavily into his arm-side at 76-79 mph, kept down consistently.

3/06/22

Positional Profile: LHP/OF
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, powerful lower-half that works efficiently down the mound, striding in-line with a square landing foot.
Arm Action: LH. Long/loose arm action into a 3/4 slot.
FB: T88.1, 85.7-88.0 mph. Jumps out of the hand with life through the zone, arm-side life.  T2207, 2077 average rpm.
CB: 71.5-72.2 mph. Sharp 1/7 shape with depth.  T2319, 2265 average rpm.
CH: 77.1-79.1 mph. Heavy fading action at times, kept down.  T1898, 1840 average rpm.

3/17/21

Carpenter was one of a number of quality defensive outfielders in attendance at the event. Carpenter plays with quick, fluid footwork fit for the outfield and his arm topped at 91 mph. Like Oppor above, Carpenter’s quick arm actually translates best to the mound where, on Sunday, he sat 83-84 mph and showed one of the day’s best breaking balls, a curve that spins at an average rate of 2,501 rpm.

7/02/20

5-foot-11, 150 pounds; thin, athletic southpaw. Long and loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Struck out eight and allowed just two runs on five hits, two walks, against Rhino Wisconsin over the weekend. Fastball sat 79-82 mph, touching 83, with the feel to spin a sharp 1/7 curveball, 69-71, while utilizing a changeup to righty bats that kept them off balance, 73-75.

3/15/20

Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 5-foot-11, 150-pounds. Lean frame.
Delivery: Upright start working off the right edge of the rubber; quick side step with high knee lift, coils torso, closes shoulders. Leg swings out to closed landing, toe pointed to target, lands athletically.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm swing, loose, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T78, 74-78 mph. Natural tail action, mostly straight.
CB: 61-67 mph. Short action off 1/7 plane; gradual break.
CH: 70-73 mph. Mostly maintains arm speed; some fade.

3/15/20

Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 5-foot-11, 150-pounds. Lean frame.
Hit: RHH. Open stance, big leg kick trigger, long stride length. Loose aggressive swing, path has length, pull side approach.
Power: 82 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: LH. INF - 82 mph. Shorter arm circle, loose, quick arm action from 3/4 slot; above-average arm strength.
Defense: Footwork is fluid, squares up in rhythm to create quick exchange/release; athletic feel for the bag to enhance himself as a target.
Run: 7.09 runner in the 60.
