Uncommitted. Bleck was a steady presence for Xavier on both sides of the ball this past week. On the mound he tossed a complete game allowing one run on two hits, three walks and struck out 10 batters in a 6-1 win over Green Bay East/West. At the plate Black went 8-for-17 with two doubles, a triple and six RBIs.

RHP Parker Bleck (Xavier, 2024) stands at 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, with room for added physical development. During his ‘pen Bleck impressed with his stuff out of an easy arm action running his fastball up to 86.5 mph with hard arm-side run that reached 18.8 inches of horizontal break. He has four offspeed weapons in his arsenal, too: a sweeping 10/4 curveball, a tighter slider working off a similar plane, a sinking changeup, as well as a knuckleball.

Built at a highly-projectable 6-foot-4, 195-pounds Bleck is a twitchy athlete while on the bump, moving quickly. From a lower ¾ slot, Bleck’s hard-running fastball got up to 84 mph, tied for an event best, and also broke the 80 mph barrier with each of his fastballs. During his ‘pen, Bleck threw two different types of breaking balls: a curveball that he showed feel for, burying it low in the zone, and a slider that was tightly spun and slightly harder than the curve. To round out his pitching repertoire, Bleck’s changeup was also a solid pitch as he was able to throw it nicely to his arm side for strikes and he also showcased a knuckleball that flashed depth. Bleck’s projectability coupled with his raw talent makes him a name to follow as he continues his prep career.
