RHP Ryan Sopha (Pewaukee, 2024) gave our scouting staff a strong look throughout the duration of his ‘pen. Currently the No. 57 ranked player in the state, Sopha is built with a durable 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame with impressive athleticism down the mound. Sopha worked his fastball in the 83-85 mph range, struggling to command it at times but playing with life through the zone. His next offering was a sweeping slider at 70-71 mph, averaging over 17” of horizontal movement and reaching over 20”. To round off his repertoire he went to a fading changeup at 75-79 mph, playing with up to 15” of run.

7/12/22

Sopha features an XL frame at 6-foot-4, 215-pound that is advanced for his age level. Coming off a strong spring season with Pewaukee, including a WIAA state appearance, the to-be junior had a quality outing in his one inning of work. The righty struck out the side, while working around a HBP and hit. From a high ¾ arm slot, Sopha brought a FB-SL-CB combo that featured swing and miss material. FB sat 82-84 mph, maxing out at 85 mph. The SL, between 72-74 mph, had the highest velocity in the 2024 class. CB brought 12-6 movement from the hand, and sat in the high 60s and low 70s. Advanced ability to throw all pitches for strikes, and was a riser as a class of 2024 pitcher.

3/13/22

Sopha will be an arm to watch this spring as the sturdy 6-foot-3, 215-pound right-hander showed a well-rounded four-pitch arsenal, advanced for his age. Sopha sat 83-86 mph relatively comfortably and with control of the zone. He showed two separate breaking balls, a 12/6 curveball with depth, and a lateral slider, both with different characteristics. Sopha rounds it out with a straight change that showed sinking action.
