A second team all-conference selection in the Big Rivers conference last year and three-time selection, Vavra has hit nearly .400 every season since starting on varsity as a freshman. (.414, .397 and .405). The left-handed hitting middle infielder has the game in his blood, his dad is the a bench coach of the Minnesota Twins and has two older brothers – Tanner who is in the Twins minor league system and Treysen who was drafted by the Twin in the 33rd round this past June out of Florida Southern.
6/5/18 - Drafted in the 3rd round by the Colorado Rockies.
3/7/18 - 6’/190, L/R, Junior. Led the Gophers in consistent, quality at-bats. Strong with good bat speed and a good plan at the plate. Worked the count and looked to do damage, getting his best swing off each at-bat. Showed good plate coverage and shortened up with two strikes. Above average raw power. Plus runner underway. Sound defender with good actions and an above average arm. Overall, he’s a well-rounded prospect who should be selected during the middle of Day 2. Also possesses the intangibles and will most likely be a “gut feel” guy for many Midwest area scouts.
