New Episode LIVE now! At The Yard Podcast

ORANGE, CALIF. - The annual Top Prospect ID showcase came through SoCal with a stop at spacious and scenic Hart Park in Orange, home of the 2019 DIII National Champion Chapman Panthers and Orange Lutheran baseball teams. For many players it was a return to update their profile metrics while vying for invitations to fall games events, while for others it was an introduction to what PBR California is all about, which of course is baseball.

With so many talented players on hand it was a great day of showcase baseball. With TrackMan and Blast Motion data having been released, it's time to take a look at traditional scouting reports for Top Prospect Outfielders.

Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-6, 135-pounds. Baseball athleticism in a smaller and proportional frame.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open and upright setup. Starts pre-pitch setup early working to get in a comfortable hitting position. Sprayed the ball to all fields.  Showed some launch angle in his batting practice showing. Took aggressive power hacks with his last few swings. Size and strength gains will help power.
Power: 83.00 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. OF - 75.00 mph. Accurate throwing session with limited outfield velocity. Throws were highly successful with long hop approach.
Defense: Aggressive towards the ball, choppy feet at times, quick arm to shoulder release.
Run: 7.41 runner in the 60.

Alex Sadowsky, Camarillo (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-9, 176-pounds. Strong frame that is a growth spurt away from a middle of the order frame.
Hit: RHH. Comfortable in the box, good balance and rhythm, strong top hand with a two hand finish. Balanced Blast Motion scores of 53/59/43 show a swing with potential now and in the future. One that doesn't have glarring holes but could use increased bat speed to help overall.
Power: 91.00 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. OF - 80.00 mph. Average high-school arm, medium arm swing in the back, put himself in a good throwing position, best suited for left field at the next level.

Ryan  De Leon, South  (CA), 2022
Positional Profile: OF/3B
Body: 5-8, 140-pounds. Athletic undersized frame with some twitch. Strength gain potential throughout.
Hit: RHH. Keeps his hands high, feet athletically based, two-hand finish. Inside-out swing approach helped by hands straight to the ball approach. Showed good contact skills, hitting the ball where it was thrown and to all fields. Connection score of 51 helps solidify this score. Inside-out swing hurts his ability to stay through the zone and hurts his plane score. Plane adjustment could help his swing significantly overall.
Power: 84.00 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. OF - 73.00 mph. Medium arm swing with limited arm speed. Kept his throws as low as his arm velocity would let him playing up the low-velocity reading. 5/5 on his throws to the bag.
Defense: Showed some outfield feel, moved quickly to the ball, put himself in a position to throw.
Run: 7.18 runner in the 60.

Jackson Kemmerer, Santa Margarita  (CA), 2023
Positional Profile: OF/2B
Body: 5-8, 170-pounds. Compact frame, proportional limbs, strong shoulders, room for more.
Hit: RHH. Ball sounded good off the bat, with consistent barrels throughout the showing from a repeatable swing. Maintained almost identical exit velocity and distance from his showing in February. Well struck dead center shot off the fence highlights his power potential and current hitability.  Will have a lot of eyes on his bat at the 2021 Futures Games where he will be taking his talents to Georgia with Team California.
Power: 95.00 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. OF - 84.00 mph. Arm showed a one mile increase in throwing velocity from his February showing. Continued to show good carry and accuracy to his intended target. Quick arm action projects well.
Defense: Attacks the ball with a low center of gravity, showing clean exchanges to throwing position. Speed in the gaps, overhead ball tracking needs improvement, potential in all three outfield spots.
Run: 6.89 runner in the 60.

Shows that his level swing and ability to sit on his back leg are translating well. Activating his hands earlier and rotating quicker could help swing development.
Power: 92.00 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. OF - 82.00 mph. Solid outfield arm, did very well utilizing the longhop/no hop throwing accuracy technique. 5/5 on throws to the bag.
Defense: Speed limits his range to the corners but showed a good first step and ability to get himself in a good throwing position.
