All-Colorado Showcase: Quick Hits - 2022 Pitchers

Mike Anderson
Colorado Scouting Director

La Salle, CO-- On May 25, 2020, PBR Colorado enthusiastically welcomed 150-plus prospects to the All-Colorado Showcase, which took place on May 25 at the Bigfoot Turf Farms in La Salle. Prospects representing the state’s 2021, 2022, and 2023 classes safely gathered at this showcase to help our staff identify some of the brightest and best prospects this state has to offer.

In the days and weeks following this event, we’ve been breaking down the top performances by category, starting with the Class of 2023 Pitchers, the ‘23 Hitters, the ‘22 Hitters, taking us to today’s topic of the ‘22 Pitchers.

Check out the Quick Hits below on this talented group of incoming junior arms who are gearing up for critical summer for the recruitment, all of whom remain uncommitted.

+ RHP Christian Foutch (Chatfield): It was a great showing for Foutch, who showed a fastball up to 88 mph. He demonstrated controlled movements and developing offspeed, including an interesting splitter, at 81-82 mph, featuring excellent movement. Foutch commanded the zone with the two pitches, too. He’s a top-follow in the state’s ‘22 class, with a high ceiling.

+ RHP Gabriel Rodriguez (Horizon): Rodriguez works the zone with a rhythm and confidence while utilizing a mid-80s fastball that sat 84-86 mph last month. Showing off some advanced feel for his curveball and changeup, Rodriguez is looking like another top-follow in Colorado’s ‘22 class, already its No. 16 overall prospect.

+ LHP Will Schrotenboer (Resurrection Christian): The big-bodied lefty sat 82-84 mph and projects well as he continues to mature and develop. Schrotenboer’s offspeed is still a work-in-progress, but he’s an all-around athlete and that should help him unlock the rest of his arsenal. He’s also the quarterback on his high school’s football team and brings with him some two-way upside to the diamond

+ RHP Braeden Lock (Valor): Lock has legitimate two-way potential at the next level. He easily projects on the mound, with a smooth and simple fastball that sat 82-84 mph at this event, showcasing a feel for his stuff that helped him live in the zone. His controlled delivery and high ¾ slot allows him to repeat well, further explaining the early command he’s demonstrating in and around the zone.

+ RHP Shane LeJeaune-DeAcutis (Thunder Ridge): LeJeaune-DeAcutis attacks the zone with his upper-70s to low-80s fastball and, at a projectable 6-foot-2, he’s an intriguing name to know inside the state’s 2022 class. He’s honing his offspeed feel, but the Thunder Ridge righty represents an on-the-rise prospect in Colorado’s incoming junior class.

+ C/RHP Tucker Moore (Douglas County): Moore’s established himself as a catcher first and foremost, but his performance from the bump last month warranted a spot on a list like this. There, he was up to 84 mph with heavy arm-side action from a high ¾ slot, and he’s looking like a two-way prospect to know in addition to his status as one of Colorado’s best backstops.

+ RHP John Pitcock (Highlands Ranch): The lanky 6-foot-4 righty is progressing nicely. He was up to 80 mph in La Salle, but his size and arm action indicate more velocity is imminent. There’s a lot to like here, with some upside to match his big height.

+ LHP/OF Jack Briest (Legend): Another two-way talent who showed well at this event, Briest is a 6-foot-4 left/left prospect with a stocky/strong lower half. He sat 81-82 mph from the rubber, with feel to spot it in the zone, and his huge size suggests that there’s more to carve out and into his arsenal.
