The Prep Baseball Report is the No. 1 resource for high school baseball in each state we cover through our variety of events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work in tandem, ultimately creating the most powerful source of high school baseball promotion in each state.  While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

Here is a look at the action from around the state.

Evergreen 12 Littleton 4
The PBR staff must point out that 2021 Thomas Schreffler hit for the cycle for Evergreen in their game against Littleton on Friday.  Thomas Schreffler was 4 for 5, scored 3 runs, and had 5 RBI’s.  No matter what age hitting for the cycle is an amazing accomplishment.

Heritage 8 Rocky Mountain 7
In a game featuring two of the teams to beat in the tournament, the Heritage Eagles were able to pull it out on Saturday.  2019 University of Northern Colorado commit Gunnar Kozlowitz who hit a home run and drove in 3 RBI’s led heritage. 2020 Cam Sisneros added to the run total by going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and 2019 Arkansas Little-Rock commit Eric McKnight was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Regis 8 Chaparral 6
In a huge league game on Saturday, Regis was able to come out on top.  With the game tied at 1 each going into the top of the 3rd inning, Regis pounded out 3 runs, but then in the bottom of the 4th, Chaparral put up a 4 spot to take the lead 5 to 4.  However, that was just about it for Chaparral, and Regis scored 2 in the top of the 6th and 7th to win 8 to 6.  2019 Penn State commit Caden Wagner for Regis had a huge day going 3 for 3, scoring 2 times, had 2 RBI’s to go along with a yard ball, and 2019 Air Force Academy commit Geno Macias had an RBI.  For Chaparral 2021 TJ Rheem was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and 2019 Ryan McKown was 3 for 3, scoring 2 time, and had 1 RBI.

Rocky Mountain 10 Horizon 1
In a big league game on Saturday Rocky Mountain came out smoking hot starting in the top of the 3rd scoring 5 runs, and then adding runs in every inning after to beat up on Horizon.  2019 Fort Hays State commit Jake Campbell did it all on Saturday pitching 6 innings allowing 1 earned run to go along with 5 strikeouts and then at the plate going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.  Also for the Lobos 2019 Jaren Piepho was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and 2022 Will Vasseur was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. 

Broomfield 5 Legacy 3
Both teams came out hot, with both of them scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning, but Broomfield added another 3 in the top of the 2nd, and held on for the next 5 innings to beat Legacy 5 to 3.  Broomfield pitcher 2020 Ryan Collins did a great job going 5.1 innings, allowing 6 hits, 0 earned runs and struck out 10 Legacy hitters.  At the plate for the Eagles, 2019 Regis University commit Zach Macosko was 1 for 4 with an RBI.

Grandview 4 Cherokee Trail 3 Game 1
Cherokee Trail took an early 1 to 0 lead after the 1st, but then gave up 2 in the bottom of the 3rd and another run in the 4th.  But, in the 7th inning Cherokee Trail came on scoring 2 runs but it wasn’t enough and lost the first game of the double-header.  The Wolves 2020 Garrett Lippold was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and on the mound 2019 Josh Hojnowski did a great job going 6.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run to go along with 4 strikeouts. For the Cougars, 2020 Mason Holland had a good day going 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Grandview 8 Cherokee Trail 6 Game 2
Grandview starting out hot scoring 4 in the first and 1 in each of the 2nd and 3rd inning, in the bottom of the 2nd Cherokee Trail added 4 and another 2 in the 3rd to tie the game at 6 runs apiece. And it stayed that way until the top of the 8th when the Wolves pushed 2 runs across to win the game 8 to 6.  2019 Jayden Martinez for the Wolves had a great day at the plate going 3 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, and 2019 Peter Goldy was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, and pitched going 6 innings allowing just 2 earned runs.  For Cherokee Trail 2020 Cade Simpson was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and 2019 Colton Freels was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. 

Ralston Valley 5 Columbine 3
Ralston Valley scored 2 in the bottom of the 1st and then didn’t score again until the bottom of the 5th, while Columbine waited too long to get their bats going and scored 1 in the top of the 5th and 2 in the 6th, but it wasn’t enough.  Ralston Valley was led by, 2019 Mesa University commit Trey Adams who was 2 for 3 with a long ball and 2 RBI’s, 2019 Arkansas Little-Rock commit Calvin Hunt who also hit a homerun, and drove in 1 run, and 2019 University of San Diego commit AJ Jergensen who was 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and he also took one deep.  For Columbine, both 2019 Logan DeArment and 2019 Cole Collins both hit a homerun. 

Ralston Valley 5 Valor 4
In a busy day of baseball for Ralston Valley, they went on and beat Valor as well on Saturday.  Ralston Valley was leading 5 to 0 going into the top of the 6th and gave up 4 runs, and then held on to beat Valor.  Ralston Valley’s 2020 Billy Wall pitched well going 5 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs, and had 2 strikeouts.  At the plate for Ralston 2019 Mesa University commit Trey Adams had another game, hitting a homerun, going 3 for 3 with 3 RBI’s. 

Dakota Ridge 9 Chatfield 2
Dakota Ridge got all over Chatfield on Saturday.  With the game tied at 1 apiece going into the top of the 4th, Dakota Ridge got serious and pounded out 8 runs in the last 4 inning of play.  Dakota Ridges’ 2019 Air Force Academy commit Ryan Stohr went off going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s and 2 long balls, and 2020 Mason Sauter was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s.  Ryan Stohr was also the man on the mound going 7 innings, allowing just 5 hits, 0 earned runs to go along with 11 strikeouts. 

Boulder 8 Fairview 7
Crosstown rivals got after on Saturday with the Panthers coming out on top, but they had to work hard to get it done.  Fairview put up a 5 spot in the top of the 2nd inning, but the Panthers stayed after it scoring 1 in the 2nd, 2 in both the 3rd and 4th, and then added another 1 in the 7th to tie the game at 7 going into extra innings.  Fairview came out and got a run up in the top of the 8th, but Boulder answered with 2 in the bottom half.  2019 MA Institute of Technology commit Teddy Schoenfeld led Boulder going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s and a homerun.  Also for Boulder 2019 Willamette University commit Jonny Suchor was 1 for 4 with an RBI.  For Fairview, 2021 Adam Moser had a day at the plate going 1 for 4 with 2 RBI’s.
