14U - Florida 5 New Jersey 0

Team Florida continued their good play in the second game of the 2021 Jr Futures Games defeating New Jersey by a score of 5-0 in 5 innings due to weather. Florida struck in the top of the first with a Hunter Demetree (2-2, R) RBI liner to left that scored Aidan Forrest. In the 3rd, Max Murray drove in Jordan Marlo with a double to left center and Brady Blanks hit one of his own to deep left that plated Brennan Confreda in the 4th to make the score 5-0. Brady Martin had a 2-out RBI single, scoring Fernando Ferrer from 2nd to bring home the 5th run for Florida. Ferrer and Forrest each had hits for the Florida boys.

Ronald Causby took the ball first and went 2 innings, striking out 2 and allowing no runs or hits. Causby showed a live, loose arm up to 82 mph and countered with a SL that showed depth and threw it with confidence. Cash Strayer came in and threw 2 innings, giving up only 3 singles and 0 runs while striking out 2.

Florida 14U will play Iowa/Minn 14U at 12:30 pm

13U - Florida 7 Oklahoma 4

The 13 year old boys from Florida jumped on Oklahoma early on Friday night. Kasey Mink opened up the scoring with a 2-run triple to left center, scoring Erick Robles and Mateu Dalmau. Charlie Stumberger brought him home with a liner back up the middle to push the lead to 3-0 after 2. Presley Moseley opened up the 3rd with a triple to deep left center and scored on an RBI groundout from MJ Hough to make it 4-0. Oklahoma put up a 3 spot in the bottom half but the Florida squad answered right back with a 3 spot of their own aided by an Ethan Barclay RBI double.

Moseley started on the mound for Florida and relied on a FB/SL mix with plenty of confidence in the off speed. He went 3 innings and didn’t give up his first hit until the 3rd where he ran into some bad luck. Final line: 3 IP 3 H 3 R 4 BB 6 K.

Vaughn Howard relieved Moseley and struggled with command a bit but showed the ability to miss barrels and worked out of trouble limiting Oklahoma to 1 run and 1 hit over his 2 frames. Kasey Mink closed things out with a scoreless inning to give Florida the victory.

Florida 13U will play Connecticut at 7:15.
