Double Barrelin': March 23 Juco Report

Colton Provey
Tennessee Scouting Director

Even though the NJCAA season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 situation, there still remains a deep crop of Juco prospects who will be looking for a home this fall. In our second edition of Double Barrelin', the PBR staff focuses on uncommitted sophomore arms, RHP Brandon Johnson (Columbia St. CC, TN) and RHP Iroel Ruiz (Dyersburg St. CC, TN).  The Alabama native, Johnson, was downright electric out the gate, earning the nod as NJCAA Pitcher of the Week (1/27-2/9), in large part to a big fastball clocked up to 94.  Iroel Ruiz, a Florida native, has been a mainstay in the Dyersburg bullpen pitching the Eagles out of some big jams this year with a tough two pitch mix (FB: 87-92, SL: 75-80).

Stay tuned to the Juco Wire that will provide updated information on all things Juco.
