The 2020 FL Preseason All-State Showcase was filled with some of the top talent in the state of Florida. The event featured prospects from the 2020-2024 classes participating in a pro-style workout followed by two games in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff. Today, we will take a look at some quick hits from Preseason All-State.

Quick Hits

Sebastian Martinez RHP / 3B / Plant , FL / 2021

2019 Future Games Participant has continued to progress. His fastball jumped into the 83-85 area and he topped at 87. Some deception in the delivery and has command of the bottom of the zone. High tempo worker and high follow.

Jack Cue OF / Archbishop Edward McCarthy, FL / 2021

Future Games participant with loud tools, especially in the power/speed combo. When he’s on time, he can really do damage with high exit velocities in the mid 90s.

Titan Kamaka SS / 3B / Olympia, FL / 2022

FSU commit has a lot of upside as a middle infielder with a live arm, athleticism and high offensive potential. Ran a 6.96 sixty with smooth, natural strides.

Brady Neal C / 3B / North Florida Christian, FL / 2023

The LSU commit has a stocky, strong frame with big tools. He’s really quick behind the plate with an above average arm at 79 down to second. When he connects you, can already see the big pop in the bat. Reached 90+ EV.

Matthew Rose 3B / SS / Clearwater Central Catholic, FL / 2022

Stand out from the Top Tier Roos Scout Day. Athletic frame with some strength in the lower half. Advanced defensive actions with with clean, soft feet. On offense, he really stays the behind the ball and gets on plane with good bat speed.

Elijah Scadina 3B / RHP / TFA, FL / 2022

A lot of offensive upside in the long, projectable frame. Had two hits in gameplay, including a deep opposite field double.

Jordan Jerkins C / 3B / Liberty County , FL / 2021

Physical catcher who was a 2019 Future Gamer. Moves well behind the plate with an above average arm. Has a line drive swing that resulted in a couple barreled up singles during the game.

Marek Houston SS / RHP / Venice, FL / 2022

Very projectable sophomore who showed off his above average glove at short. He has a low effort swing with gap-to-gap ability. Upside is high.

Griffin Hugus SS / RHP / Wellington, FL / 2022

A standout at the West Florida Trial. Utility player with tools all over the field. Switch hitter produced consistent hard contact from both sides. Stepped on the mound and topped out at 83 mph.

James Aselta SS / RHP / IMG Academy, FL / 2022

Aselta was one of the biggest winners of the day. He showed off an above average arm and had two of the best rounds of BP on the day. Continued that trend in game as he one-hopped the wall for a triple.

Gustavo Mendez C / 1B / Windermere, FL / 2022

Mendez is a strong catcher with raw power at the plate. He stood out at the Miami Top Prospect Games and continued at Preseason All-State. He led the entire field with a 97 mph exit velocity.

Landon Moran LHP / 1B / Lake Brantley, FL / 2022

We were unable to see Moran pitch, but the Florida commit did not disappoint with his bat. He showed off his athleticism at first and had two strong rounds of BP, spraying hard hit line drives all over the field.

Turner Thompson RHP / Jesuit, FL / 2020

Tulane commit. Thompson was one of the hardest throwers of the day as he was up to 92 mph. The physical right-hander worked a clean inning with a fastball/slider mix. His slider was above average and was sitting 83-85 mph.

Henry Politz 1B / OF / Jesuit, FL / 2020

Holy Cross commit. Politz looks to have leaned out. Tall, athletic showed an above average arm from the outfield with throws of 86 mph. At first, he has feel for the bag with soft hands. Offensively, showed a quick bat and pull-side power from the left side.

Shawn Guilliams RHP / Villages Charter, FL / 2020

Committed to North Florida, Guilliams was the most impressive pitcher of the day. He worked two cleans innings with his fastball sitting 89-91 and topping at 93 mph. Guilliams will be in attendance at the Super 60 this coming weekend.

Damian Goulart 3B / SS / Windermere, FL / 2021

The 2019 Future Gamer continues to develop on both sides of the ball. He has an aggressive approach at the plate and uses his strong lower half to drive balls into the gap. Defensively, he moves athletically and seems to make every play that comes his way.

Brody Donay C / 3B / Lakeland Christian, FL / 2022

Donay was the biggest standout of the day. His projectable 6-foot-5, 190 pound frame stands out the moment you see him, but it was 91 mph throws across the infield which really caught everyone's attention. He continued his day with strong rounds of BP and even stepped on the mound and topped out at 87 mph.

Emilio Portes OF / 3B / Monsignor Edward Pace , FL / 2021

Bethune-Cookman commit. Portes was all over the leaderboards during the workout as he clocked a 6.87 60, had an exit velocity of 93 mph, and was 88 mph from the outfield.

Florida commit. Prevesk stood out all day. Showed power potential in BP and translated in the game as he drove a triple to center and showed all around big potential.

Richie Morales SS / RHP / Lakewood Ranch, FL / 2020

Florida State commit. Morales is one of the best fielders in his class and he showed that with quick, soft hands and 87 mph throws across the infield. Morales showed above average bat speed while barreling almost every pitch he saw in BP.
