The Florida Preseason All-State has quickly become the premier Preseason event in the state of Florida. Over the first two years there have been over 100 committed players in attendance and counting. This event is held for the top 2019s-2022s throughout the state to kick off the Prep Baseball Report's spring high school baseball coverage.

We will begin to spotlight each and every player in attendance. Today, we look at SS Robert Minotti (New Smyrna Beach, 2019). A member of Team Florida at the 2017 PBR Future Games, Minotti is committed to Virginia Military Institute. He is currently ranked No. 142 in Florida.

Scouting Report

08/06/17- The 5-foot-11, MIF/OF shows a lot of all around tools. He ran a 6.87 60 yard dash, was 87 mph from the outfield, 88 mph from the infield and a 90 mph exit velocity. There is some mechanical stiffness in his actions, but the tools are beginning to translate to games. During batting practice, despite a somewhat stiff and early load he shows loose and quick hands, finding the barrel perhaps most often on the team with line drives from gap-to-gap. There is present bat speed and as he continues to add some rhythm into the swing it should continue to play up.

06/28/17- Has a long, lean frame with a lot of quick twitch. There is some stiffness in the actions, but athleticism makes up for that for now. Has a quick first step in the infield, the range could improve with a more relaxed set up and pre-pitch looseness. Hands work well and has an above average arm, topping out at 88 mph. Offensively, he is aggressive through the zone with above average bat speed. He tends to get over aggressive and rotational, taking away from the natural leverage and bat speed. When on plane, the ball jumps off of the bat and with a bit more rhythm and looseness could see big jumps offensively. Overall, very athletic with a lot of tools and potential.

01/21/17- The 5-foot-10, 150-pound SS/OF easily made the biggest jump out of any player in attendance. His stats prior to this event were a 7.59 60 yard dash, 79 mph positional velocity and 81 mph exit velocity. His stats from the Preseason All-State were a 6.84 60 yard dash, 87 mph position velocity and 84 mph exit velocity. Not only did the raw numbers increase, the tools played in the game as well. He had a single and a double off the left-center field wall against arms much older then him. Overall he showed a lot of quick twitch actions and the tools have clearly progressed. He still looks young and has plenty of room to grow and fill out and can continue to make another big jump.

6/22/16- The 5-foot-9 130-pounder moved well at short fielding everything out in front of his body and under control while topping out at 79 mph across the infield. At the plate, Minotti is lanky and does not use his lower half well, although does trust his hands and uses them well.  When Minotti used the middle of the field he kept the barrel in the zone longer and this resulted in a base hit during the game.
