Florida ProCase Preview: RHP Tyler Dietz
May 21, 2020
The PBR ProCase has been a staple of the Prep Baseball Report's pro coverage over the last 17 years. The event has become one of the more high-powered pro showcases in the state and has seen multiple high draft picks in year’s past. There have been four players drafted in the top five rounds of the MLB Draft to have attended the Florida ProCase in previous years. The biggest of them all was Mason Denaburg, who was taken in the 1st round of the 2018 draft by the Washington Nationals. Another ProCase alum was Freddy Tarnok. He was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft. Sam McMillan attended the first Florida ProCase in 2016. He was selected in the 5th round of the 2017 draft by the Detroit Tigers. And just last year, Tyler Callihan was selected in the 3rd round of the 2019 draft by the Cincinnati Reds.
The 2020 Florida ProCase will take place Friday, May 29th at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Daytona, Florida. The event will feature a pro-style workout followed by simulated gameplay that we will be broadcasting live on Twitter. Starting today, we will be spotlighting each of the players that will be in attendance at the 2020 Florida ProCase.
If you still wish to attend the 2020 Florida ProCase you can request your invite and register HERE.

Scouting Report
USF commit, Athletic and strong, lean and projectable body at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds and still room for growth. Has a short clean arm action with the ball jumping out of his hand. Stays online with delivery when going home, keeps it easy and smooth which helps him repeat it. Sits 88-90 mph with his fastball with arm side run, 82-83 mph with his slider which is tight with late break. Commands the strike zone with all pitches.
Dietz is 6-2 175 lbs and has a long, lean frame with strong legs. The USF commit didn’t disappoint as he kept his fastball at 90 mph for the first 2 innings of work. He has a tight windup and transfers weight very well through release that allows the ball to explode out of his hand to give a rising look to the fastball. Threw a slider at 81 ahead in counts. With the most live arm seen so far, his ceiling is as high as any.
12/8/19 - Committed to South Florida
01/14/17- Stands at 5-foot-11, 135 pounds on a lean, projectable build with athleticism. Stood out in the field where he showed actions, fielded the ball under control, and showed lateral quickness. Bounces around and is light on his feet. Throws to bag were accurate and had carry as he topped out 77 mph across the infield. At the plate has a very open stance and keeps his feet close together in the back of the box.. Has a big kick for his load and showed quick hands with the ability to make consistent contact with the ball during batting practice. Young player to follow as he continues to mature as he shows good actions all over the field with a projectable frame to build on.
