Arnold struck quickly as Mosley starter and FSU commit Hudson Rowan struggled with command out of the gate. A walk and error setup 2-on 2-out for 2022 Warrick Wilmot who sent a soft liner just over the SS head for an RBI single. Consecutive walks brought home another run as Rowan’s day would end early. 2022 Zane Monk greeted Blake Thomas with an RBI single of his own to bring home two more as the Marlins would plate four 1st inning runs.

A tight, competitive matchup between two regional squads ended with Mosley coming out on top 5-4 thanks to two runs each in the final two innings.

Arnold sent 2021 RHP
Blake Holman to the mound against a deep Mosley lineup and he was up for the challenge. He attacked with the fastball (80-82 mph) up and down in the zone and threw a mid 70s breaking ball with depth that induced plenty of swing-and-misses. Holman gave up 1 run, 0 earned through the first 5 innings. He finished with a final line of: 5.2 IP 4 H 2 ER 4 BB 3 K

Holman quickly recorded the first two outs in the 6th before a walk and passed ball moved Jacksonville commit Ethan Campbell into scoring position for 2023 Jacob Payne. Payne drove in Campbell to make it a 4-2 game before another walk ended Holman’s day as he gave way to Gulf Coast State commit Carson Dorsey. Dorsey hit Jaden Rudd and walked Cole Horton to bring in Mosley’s third run of the game before Dorsey induced a pop up to end the inning.

Jaden Rudd came in relief for Mosley and held the Arnold lineup in check for the rest of the game. He entered in the 4th and didn’t allow a hit. He struck out the side in the 7th and totaled 9 in his outing to give Mosley a chance at the end.

Final line: 4 IP 0 H 0 R 3 BB 9 K

In the bottom of the 7th a walk and infield single out the tying run in scoring position with no outs. An errant throw from 2nd base would bring home the tying run before a walk and HBP ended up with Mosley escaping 5-4. Mosley runs their record to 17-4, Arnold drops to 12-7.
