Doug Freeman
Florida Scouting Director

No 25 Stoneman Douglas would jump out to the early lead on a perfect Wednesday afternoon in Parkland thanks for FIU recruit John Rodriguez’s leadoff home run.  Douglas would add a two more runs in the first thanks to doubles from Brandon Auerbach and 2020 UCF recruit Coby Mayo and a sacrifice fly from Jonathan Strauss. Luis Gonzalez would settle in after a allowing three in the first for Pace. Both Gonzalez and Douglas starting pitcher Kevin Heinrich would hold hold the offenses in check for the majority of the game.

Pace would remain scoreless until the fifth, when a pair of walks and a double from 2020 Miami recruit Sammy Infante would lead to a pair of runs. Pace, down 3-2 in the seventh. A leadoff walk to Infante, followed by a single from Kenny Gonzalez and Roberto Moya would tie the game at 3-3.  A single from Yordani Carmona, a wild pitch and a two-run single from Michael Machin and Pace would take the 6-3 lead and hold on to win over No 25 Stoneman Douglas.
