Plant City is coming off a season that led to their first state championship in school history. While they return a handful of talented starters, they lost two of their biggest impact players in Parker Messick (Florida State) and Cade Shissler (Stetson). Messick was dominant on the mound in 2019 where he went 11-1 with a 1.06 ERA and 125 strikeouts. Shissler batted .353 with 4 HRs and 15 RBI in 2019. Replacing Messick as the team’s ace is senior RHP Jarod Wingo (HCC). Wingo was 6-0 with a 0.44 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 2019. On offense, the Raiders return their team MVP from last season Cole Cothren. Cothren batted .463 with 20 RBI in 2019. They also return Tyler Dowdy who batted .368 with 6 HRs and 24 RBI while also throwing 40 innings on the mound in 2019. Coming off a state championship run, the Raiders have reloaded and are ready to make another run in 2020.
