X-FACTOR

McGwire Holbrook - Holbrook returns for his senior season to lead a very deep and talented Bishop Moore team. The Hornets will look upon Holbrook to supply the power for this offense that lost four of their top impact bats from last season. The West Virginia commit will also be key in slowing down the run game and handling a talented pitching staff.

KEY PLAYERS LOST
Kyle Mock, 2B, 2019 (Troy)
Dale Thomas, SS, 2019 (Coastal Carolina)
Fabian Escalante, OF, 2019 (Bethune-Cookman)
Weston Eberly, C, 2019 (Columbia)
Jack McRae, RHP, 2019 (Johns Hopkins)

OUTLOOK
The Hornets come into the 2020 season after losing four impact bats in 2019 in Kyle Mock, Dale Thomas, Fabian Escalante, and Weston Eberly. That foursome combined for 88 hits and 70 RBI in 2019 and will be hard to replace. However, Bishop Moore’s offense this year is led by senior catcher McGwire Holbrook (West Virginia). Holbrook batted .325 with 25 RBI last season and will look to continue to do damage in 2020. Joining Holbrook is fellow senior, OF Dylan Brazil (Stetson). Brazil is the Hornets’ speed threat in their lineup as he had 11 stolen bases while holding down the fort in center field. A trio of talented juniors round out a lineup that could be special with Dominic Scavone (Stetson), Sonny Rao (USF), and Sammy Lake (FGCU). On the mound, the Hornets lose their biggest innings eater in Jack McRae (Johns Hopkins), while returning seniors Tommy Groom and Blake D’Arville (UNF). Groom posted a 1.89 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 29.2 innings while D’Arville posted a 1.44 ERA with 48 strikeouts in 48.2 innings. Bishop Moore has the talent and depth to return to states in 2020.
