Top 2018 Florida Corner Infielders

Justin Burgess
Florida Area Scout

As we continue to take a look at the 2018 rankings, today we will highlight the top corner infielders in the state of Florida. Only one third baseman and one first baseman made it into the top 25, but the second half of the list of 75 is represented well by corner guys. Here is a deeper look at the top corner infielders in this class:

Chase Sanguinetti 1B, Gulliver Prep 2018
Chase comes in ranked at number ten in the state for 2018 and stands at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds with a strong and athletic frame with big legs. The Florida State commit is one of the best power bats in Florida and always puts on a show in batting practice. He gets his power from using his lower half very well, having great bat speed, and not getting cheated in his swing. Even though he takes a big hack most of the time, he shows good hand/eye coordination and knows when to shorten his swing. Sanguinetti can really drive the ball to all fields and has proven that he can hit quality pitching off of players a couple of years older than him. In the field he can pick up throws, shows soft hands on groundballs, and has a strong arm across the diamond.

Zach Goberville 3B, Westminster Academy 2018
Goberville is ranked at number 25 in the state is the number one third baseman. The Central Florida commit stands at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds with a tall, loose, lean, and projectable body. He shows loose actions on defense with some softness in hands and he possesses a good approach at the plate with some quickness in his hands, looseness in the bat, and a good swing plane. Zach has some length and lift in his stroke and swings the bat with confidence. He drives the ball well to all fields in batting practice and like most kids his age, he will develop power with physical maturity.
