PBR Georgia Staff
Hudson Graham

The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook
Mill Creek returns one of the most talented teams in 7A. The Hawks are eager to get back playing, after two narrow margin losses to state runner up, Etowah. In the elite eight they faced off against Lowndes, and had an action packed three game series. Alabama commit Beau Brailey will be the ace on the mound. After an impressive junior season he looks to build on top of that. Expect to see his fastball in the low 90’s this spring.

Beau Brailey RHP / Mill Creek , GA / 2023

Following Brailey will be Emmanuel commit Hunter Pirkle. Pirkle will be a mid 80’s arm that fills up the zone, and competes. He will give the Hawks a chance every game with his ability to throw strikes. Matthew Simay and Jacques Walker will lead the offensive attack. After a great freshman campaign, UGA commit Daniel Pierce could have one of the biggest years in the state.  Freshman William Myhand will be one to keep an eye on heading into the season. He recently put up some big numbers at our preseason event. The Hawks have all the pieces for another postseason run.

Matthew Simay SS / 2B / Mill Creek, GA / 2023

Daniel Pierce SS / 2B / Mill Creek, GA / 2025
