The 2023 Georgia high school baseball season is less than a month away. With the season getting pushed up one week the coaches and players have an extra week to prepare for opening day. Will it be sunny and 75? Or below freezing for opening day? The Georgia weather is unpredictable, just like trying to predict who will come out on top of each classification. The talent in the State of Georgia continues to be one of the best in the country. Some regions have a fresh new look, and some region foes will continue to battle for that top spot to earn the best road to the state championship.

We will begin to preview our Power 25 rankings each day until the season begins. Each week we will be releasing our players of the week, updating the Top 10 in each GHSA classification as well as a Power 25. Be sure to follow PBR Georgia on twitter for live action each week, as our staff travels throughout the state to cover baseball in the great state of Georgia.

Team Outlook

North Forsyth is the region favorite coming into the 2023 season. The region will look much different than the 2022 season. The Raiders fell to Mill Creek in the first round of the state playoffs. If they can finish at the top of the region they have the pitching staff to make a run. Upper 80’s arms are not hard to come by for North Forsyth. Leading the way is East Tennessee State commit Cason Engert. Engert is one of the top right-handed arms in the state. He has been up to 92, and with his size the velo will continue to climb. Andrew Elkhill will be the next arm they run out. The South Alabama commit is a 6-0 200-pound lefty that has a smooth, effortless delivery. His fastball will get into the low 90’s with a 12-6 breaking ball. Drew Bentley (Piedmont) and Parker Adams (Flagler) will round out the committed seniors on the mound. The four will take up the majority of the innings in efforts to take the Raiders back to the playoffs.  Brady Holbrook will be a high follow for his sophomore season. The OF/LHP is one of the top players in the state for the 2025 class. North Forsyth will open their season with a scrimmage against Walton.

Brady Holbrook

Cason Engert
6 foot 2 190 pounds w/ proportional RHS build. Strike thrower w/ advanced feel for secondary stuff. One of the cleaner deliveries and arm actions this weekend. Deceptive short circle AA 3/4 slot. FB 84-87 T88 with angle & run. Has ability to paint edges with it more than he currently shows. Maintains arm speed very well on fading 74-76 CH. CB 69-71 for strikes has some sharpness.
