Player to to Watch List

Class of 2023 Top 10

Kevin McGonigle SS / 2B / Bonner-Prendergast, PA / 2023

One of the best pure hitters in the country, McGonigle features both advanced bat to ball skills and raw power through the zone. Equally as impressive, he takes his walks and has shown adjustability on the offspeed to find hard contact. Will be more than capable of handling a SS role at the next level.

Luke Guth RHP / SS / Franklin Area, PA / 2023

Exciting arm-speed in an athletic, upside 6-foot-2, 170lb frame that still projects yet. Can run and cut the FB to both sides of the plate, grabbing a 92 mph his last outing. Up to 82K through 32IP this spring, a sign of what’s to come with a high spin FB/CB combo. Seeing huge improvements in feel to pitch over the past couple of years.

Jake Griffin RHP / OF / Holy Redeemer, PA / 2023

The imposing 6-foot, 205lb RHP attacks the zone in the upper-80’s from an OTT slot and creates ride when climbing the ladder, downward plane at times to the knees. Mixes a big 11/5 breaking ball, manipulated to 12/6 at times, in the mid-70’s with a feel to spin. Easy to see more velocity coming.

Chase Krewson OF / LHP / South Fayette, PA / 2023

Another professional at-bat, Krewson has both the size and tools to get on the field sooner rather than later. The Notre Dame commit was a standout at the Northeast Procase, registering a 97 mph exit velocity (wood) and went 349 feet on his best swing. Then to cap off the day, turned in a 94 mph arm strength from the outfield.

Tyler Pitzer RHP / OF / South Fayette, PA / 2023

Highly efficient in a 6-foot-1, 175lb frame, the righty works fast, collecting S/M above the belt. Live arm that spins 2396rpms on a 90-91 mph FB from a 5.2 foot release height and pairs a sharp CB on a horizontal axis (20 inches HM). Strikeout potential and CH keeps getting better (1755rpms, fade).

Blake Morningstar RHP / Wyalusing Valley, PA / 2023

Our biggest riser within the top 10, Morningstar is compiling a special season, K’ing 94 batters in 42 innings to date. Wicked 91-94 mph FB that bores in on RHH hands and sweeps a 79-82 mph SL that gains late depth. The finish adds to the deception, falling off the mound hard at times to the first-base side (extra run, extra sweep on SL).

Pete Craska 1B / 3B / Mars Area, PA / 2023

Uber-physical 6-foot-1, 230lb frame, using barrel-whip to generate heavy contact at the front of the plate. Active lower half in the swing that sinks and connects to the ground well. Big time power potential to the pull-side of the field, but stays on the breaking ball for backside doubles. Impact performer on the national tournament scene.

Tyler Smith LHP / OF / Mt. Lebanon, PA / 2023

The now more physical 6-foot, 195-pound southpaw exploded at our ‘21 Preseason All-State Southwest with hip-shoulder separation and clean arm-action. Touched an 89 mph that day, throwing everything for strikes. Lots of confidence in the SL/CH and lands both down in the zone. Also swings a powerful left-handed stick.

Brett Antolick RHP / SS / Hazleton Area, PA / 2023

A low-effort thrower at 6-foot-3, 195lbs, the Texas A&M recruit maintains direction down the slope with more in the tank. Some arm-side run on the FB, which gets up around the 90 mph range to accompany a downer, 11/5 breaking ball in the mid-70’s. The CH has flashed at times and could become a weapon down the road.

Eddie Copper RHP / 1B / Germantown Academy, PA / 2023

Workhorse, frontline frame with natural sink action on the FB – 88-90 mph. Held velo in our recent look this spring, displaying composure and winning tough counts throughout the outing. Backdoored a 76-77 mph SL here and there, getting some whiffs on a low-80’s CH that came out of the hand nicely.
