Park Tudor’s 7th inning rally advances them to 2nd Round

Indianapolis---Friday evening’s first round match-up of the Marion County tournament between Park Tudor and Lawrence North was a tight game throughout, but a timely hit in the 7th gave Park Tudor the one run win.

Park Tudor’s, Pierce Hardacker, took the mound for the Panthers while Nolan Watson got the start for the Wildcats. Both pitchers threw well, with each going the full seven innings.  Hardacker, who earned the win, scattered six hits while striking out nine.  Watson allowed five hits and struck out eight.

In the top of the first, Park Tudor claimed an early 2-0 lead.  The rally began on Chris Elbrecht’s single.  Elbrecht was eventually brought home on an RBI base hit from Hardacker.

The Wildcats responded with a run of their own in their half of the first.  Drew Madden led things off with a single up the middle and eventually scored on an error.  L.N. would tie things up in the third when Brady Boles scored on another Panther error.

The game remained tied until the top of the seventh when Matt Pauszek hit an RBI single to give Park Tudor the 3-2 lead.  The Panthers would hang on in the bottom half to win the game 3-2 and advance to Saturday’s second round match-up.

North Central escapes Roncalli with 1-0 Victory

Indianapolis---The North Central Panthers advanced Friday evening to the second round of the Marion County tournament with a 1-0 win over defending State Runner-up Roncalli.  Jensen Kirch threw seven strong innings of shutout baseball.  Kirch allowed five hits while striking out five.

The Panthers scored their only run of the evening in the second inning on an error.  North Central will face Park Tudor Saturday morning in the second round.
