As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Portage Indians and Head Coach Tim Pirowski will look to repeat as sectional champs this season. Portage finished the 2013 season 19-13 and return five positional starters and four arms  in 2014.  Leading the way is Northern Illinois commit and 1st Team Preseason All-State selection Kevin Jones. Jones, ranked No. 22 in Indiana's class of 2014 rankings, went 6-3 in 58 IP last season while compiling 87 K's with a 1.08 ERA.  Jones will also be looked to contribute offensively after hitting .383 with 5 2B, 22 RBI, 12 SB, and 32 Runs. University of Cincinnati commit Chris Klenk will run the Indian's outfield.  Klenk, ranked No. 45 in the 2014 class, hit .373 with 8 2B, 4 3B, 14 RBI, 36 Runs and 16 SB.  Seniors Peter Psomedelis and Alec Coates are expected to play key roles this spring.  Psomedelis hit .307 with 5 2B, 18 RBI and 9 SB as a Junior while Coates batted .304 with 3 2B and 11 RBI.
