As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The Carroll Chargers and Head Coach Dave Ginder once again saw a successful season in 2013 winning both a conference and sectional crown.  The Chargers return seven positional starters and four arms from last year's 21-8 team.  Leading the way is Valparaiso commit, Grant Inman.  Inman, the No. 12 ranked prospect in Indiana's class of 2015 rankings, hit .358 with 12 2B, 4 HR and 27 RBI in 2013.  On the mound the 6-foot-4 righty went 6-0 with a 2.45 ERA and 46 K's. Another RHP the Chargers will count on is senior Taylor Goshen, the No. 15 ranked prospect in Indiana's class of 2014 rankings. Goshen, a 6-foot-2 righty committed to Wichita State, was 2-2 with a 1.38 ERA in 2013.  At the corner positions is senior 1B/P Matt Meihls and Junior 3B/P Trevor Snyder.  Miehls, an Ohio Dominican commit and ranked No. 119 in the 2014 class, hit .337 with 6 2B, 4 HR, and 19 RBI last spring. On the mound, Miehls was 2-1 in 19 2/3 IP. Snyder, ranked No. 73 in the 2015 class, hit just under .300 as a sophomore with 7 2B and 2 HR. Fulfilling the catching duties is sophomore Matt Owens. The Chargers should once again compete for a conference and sectional championship this spring, and have the talent to make a deep run in the state tournament.
