2014 Underclass Spotlight: Zach McKinstry, Fort Wayne Northside HS

PBR: What level of baseball do you see yourself playing at the next level?

McKinstry:  D1, D2, or JUCO

PBR: What schools are you most interested in right now, and why?

McKinstry:  University of Michigan. I have met Coach Maloney and I think he is a great infield instructor. Another school I would like to attend is the University of North Carolina. I would like to go there because they compete every single year for a national title. Another school I might like to attend would be Ball State University simply because they are very close to home. This would allow my family to see me whenever they had the chance. I have been to a hitting camp with Coach Kennedy from Parkland and played two fall ball games at Parkland Junior college and think it would also be a great place to play baseball.  

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

McKinstry:  I need to get faster and stronger.

PBR: What are your personal goals for the upcoming 2012 season?

McKinstry:  In High School I want to steal 25 or more bases. I want to hit over .370 and lead the area in doubles. Over a .600 OBP%. I would like to say above a .995 Fielding %.

In the Summer I want to have a .360 or higher batting average. I want to have a .500 OBP%. Steal over 50 bases.  Fielding % I want to be around .995

PBR: What are your high school team goals for the upcoming 2012 season?

McKinstry:  The team goals for my high school team this year is to win our Conference (SAC). Go on and win our Sectional, Regional, and try to win STATE. 

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer?

McKinstry:  The Fort Wayne Cubs

PBR: What is your fondest memory or highlight from your 2011 baseball season (High School or Summer)?

McKinstry:  We played at Parkview Field down town Fort Wayne and I hit my first High School Home Run. It was an Inside the park Home Run!

McKinstry:  High School Varsity
