Aurora Preseason I.D.: Top Overall Prospects

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

On Saturday, Feb. 22, the PBR Illinois team hosted the inaugural Aurora Preseason I.D. at the Aurora Sports Zone. The event featured close to 150 prospects from all high school classes.

Shortly after the event we released early analysis with our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis. This week, we’ve been rolling out position-by-position analysis from this event that started with the day’s catchers and took us through the outfielders, infielders, and pitchers

We’re concluding our event coverage today, by ranking the top 10 prospects from the event. At the top of the list is one of the top unsigned seniors in the state, RHP Mason Kottmeyer (Kaneland). Kottmeyer has an extra-large, proportional 6-foot-6, 195-pound and clean, live arm with seemingly more left in the tank. Kottmeyer sat 88-89 mph at the event and has seen his velocity steadily tick up over the last few years. He also showed a promising curveball and a changeup that lacked feel but showed swing-and-miss action when in the zone.

Continue reading below for reports and the top overall prospects.
