Indiana Player of the Week : Honorable Mentions Week 1

The 2023 high school season is off and running here in the Hoosier State and our week one player of the week, Michael Dierckman (Carroll HS) started off with a bang. The senior OF/RHP hit .700 on the week with two doubles, seven stolen bases and also picked up the win on the mound against No. 2 Floyd Central, pitching 4 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Dierckman recently committed to Manchester University.

Aside from Dierckman, we had plenty of other worthy candidates that got off the hot starts in week one of the 2023 season. Check out our honorable mentions for player of the week below


Jevan Andrews, OF, 2024, Hobart HS

Andrews was 7 for 11 (.636) with 6 runs scored, 2 RBI, 2 2B, and stole 7 bases.


 

 

Matthew Santana, C, 2023, Lake Central HS

Santana was 7 for 13 (.538) with 1 HR and 3 RBI helping Lake Central to a 2-1 record on the week.

 

 

 

Blake McDonald, OF/P, 2024, Heritage Christian HS

Blake was 9 for 12 (.750) on the week with 9 singles and 4 RBI. He also recorded a record of 1-1 on the mound.


 

Cale Coursey, RHP/INF, 2023, Crawfordsville HS

Over the course of five games, Coursey went 10 for 15 (.667) with 3 2B, 1 3B, and 8 RBI. The senior also threw 9 innings over the course of the week, allowing just 3 H and 0 R, while striking out 18.


 

 

Carter Murphy, INF, 2023, West Vigo HS

 Murphy started the season by going 7 for 10 (.700) with a .750 OBP, 4 2B, and 6 RBI in three games.


 

 

Gavin Kuzniewski, RHP, 2024, Fishers HS

 Kuzniewski had a stellar start - throwing 7 IP over the course of two appearances, allowing just 3 H, 1 ER, and striking out 16. Kuzniewski earned the win for Fishers against PBR Kentucky #2 ranked McCracken County.


 

Caulin Brown, C, 2024, Fishers HS

 Brown clubbed 3 HR’s in the first week of the season for Fishers, while going 4 for 11 (.364) with 3 RBI and 3 BB.


 

Jack Brown, RHP/OF, 2024, Fishers HS

 The two-way standout had a great first week, both offensively and on the mound. Brown tossed 6 IP, allowing just 3 H, 2 ER, and striking out 6 - including a complete game win where he worked 5 IP. Offensively, Jack went 7 for 13 (.538) with 2 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, and 3 BB.


Aiden Reynolds, INF, 2026, Noblesville HS

In the first 5 games of his high school career, Reynolds went 10 for 16 (.625) with 3 2B, 1 3B, 4 RBI, 9 R, and had an OBP of .710.


 

Ryan Keating, 3B, 2024, Bishop Chatard HS

 In three games, Keating went 8 for 11 (.727) with 4 2B, 3 BB, and 7 RBI.


Ty Bradle, RHP/INF, 2023, Hamilton Southeastern HS

Bradle posted loud numbers on both sides of the ball - going 7 for 18 (.389) with 2 2B, 1 3B, and 3 HR. He also drove in 5 runs and scored 6. Bradle led HSE to a win in his start on the mound, throwing 4 ⅓ IP, striking out 10, and allowing just 1 H and 1 ER.


 

 

Nolan Colbert, OF, 2024, Hamilton Southeastern HS

Colbert showed off his left-handed pop in the opening week of the season, going 6 for 9 (.667) with 3 2B, 3 HR, and picking up 9 RBI.


 

Easton Moore, INF, 2023, Zionsville HS

Moore helped Zionsville pick up four wins during their spring break trip to Tennessee, where he went 8 for 17 (.471) with 3 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBIs, and 5 runs scored.


 

 

Masen Moravec, INF/RHP, 2024, Floyd Central HS

 Moravec threw a no-hitter in Floyd Central’s 12-0 victory over South Dearborn, where he struck out 6 in 5 IP and allowed just 2 baserunners all game (2 BB). Moravec had a solid week at the plate, going 3 for 8 (.375) with 2 2B, 3 R, and 2 SB.

 

 

Brayden Teer, CF/P, 2024, Blackford HS

Teer helped the Bruins to a 2-1 record on their spring break trip to Tennessee, going 5 for 9 (.556) with 2 2B, 3 RBIs, 3 BBs, and 7 runs scored. He also made three appearances on the mound, striking out 3 in 3 IP. 

Braden Kauffman, SS, 2024, Westview HS

Kauffman showed off his power in week 1, going 4 for 8 (.500) while hitting 2 HR and driving in 5 RBI.
