4/20 Delphi @ Sheridan
By Cooper Trinkle

Sebastian Salazar, RHP, Sheridan HS, 2023
Uncommitted 2023. Salazar impressed this winter at Preseason All State and showed much of the same in this look. Strong, 6-foot-3, 205 pound frame that still has room to grow. Low-pulse, good composure on the mound. Quick tempo, lower-effort delivery. Over-the-top arm slot with good arm speed. Salazar sat 84-87 mph on his fastball, touching 88. Showed good command of the FB to his glove side, as well as at the top of the zone. He used a 70-72 mph CB with good depth early in the count and a tighter, 74-75 mph SL as an out-pitch. Flashed a 77-80 CH. Salazar finished the night with 5 innings of work, allowing just 2 H’s, 3 BB’s, 1 ER, while striking out 5.

Luke Smock, SS, Delphi HS, 2022
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee signee. Athletic, projectable 6-foot-1, 175 pounder. Solid defensive actions at SS, showing soft hands, a quick transfer, and good arm strength across the diamond. Showed the ability to play on the run. At the plate, Smock used a wide, balanced stance with a short stride and compact load. Controlled lower-half. Tight, flatter swing plane with good hand-speed. Good runner. Smock was a catalyst at the top of the lineup for Delphi, reaching base in 4 of his 5 trips to the plate. He finished the night 1 for 3 with a 2B, 2 BB’s, 2 SB’s, and scored 4 R’s.

4/20 Carmel @ Westfield
By Daylan Nanny

Keaton Mahan, OF, 2022, Westfield, Ohio State University Commit
One of my favorite bats in the class – Mahan came out of the gates against Carmel spraying the ball all over the field. Consistent tempo from start to finish with a special kind of “whip” through the zone. Possesses a lot of presence in the box with an advanced approach the game. Good instincts.

Collin Lindsey, C, 2023, Westfield, Uncommitted
’23 Collin Lindsey is one of the hottest hitters in the area to begin this spring! Really good athlete with strong frame. Stays inside the baseball consistently with good actions. One to keep an eye on this spring & summer for sure!

Jacob Culp, RHP, 2023, Westfield, Uncommitted
Culp was a standout from the Preseason All State showcase that is seeing it translate to the field. Quick efficient arm that showed the ability to get the FB glove side & beat barrels. BB had move of 11/5 shape with depth, landed for strike as well. Improved command. Good Follow.

4/19 Lafayette Central Catholic @ West Lafayette
By Cooper Trinkle

Evan Cooke, RHP/3B, West Lafayette HS, 2023
Physical, 6-foot-4, 215 pound frame. Cooke did not have his best day in this look, but his physical projection and current toolset make him an interesting prospect. Cooke made a brief appearance on the mound, where he sat 84-86 mph with his fastball and showed a big, 11/5 breaking ball at 69-71 mph. He flashed a sharper, 74-75 mph slider in warmups, but didn’t throw it in game play. Cooke pitched from a stretch-only delivery, with a tall balance point, longer arm action, and an over-the-top arm angle. He also hit in the 4-hole for West Lafayette and hit from a tall, balanced stance. Showed bat speed at the dish with a flat bat path and a  pullside approach. Moved well laterally for his size, showing some range at 3B. Strong arm across the infield. Good follow.

Jackson Cain, C, Lafayette Central Catholic HS, 2025Cain showed good defensive actions behind the dish for a 2025. 5-foot-10, 175 pound athletic build. Very good flexibility, comfortable receiver. His quick feet and hips allow him to be a reliable blocker. Above average arm strength with good arm accuracy. 2.15 pop between innings. At the plate, Cain hit from a balanced stance with a short stride and a handsy load. Tends to rush through his load and get too vertical with the bat. Showed some bat speed. Finished the night 1 for 3 with a 2B and a walk.

4/19 Harrison @ McCutcheon
By Daylan Nanny

Jake Gothrup, RHP, 2022, Harrison, Wabash Valley College Commit
Through (11) innings pitched so far this season, Gothrup has given up (0) hits & (1) ER. The WVC recruit has a ton of projection upside in the frame, athleticism, and arm speed that he possesses. Moves well down the mound with a lot of late intent. This ’22 is one that has only improved and look for that success to continue.

Jack Dowell, INF, 2024, Harrison, Uncommitted
Thick framed - LHH Dowell was a tough out all night for Harrison High School. Consistently winning the front half of the plate against some upper 80’s fastballs. Not a lot of wasted in the movement patterns with little slack. Quick trigger & uses ground effectively. Currently hitting (360) with (4) doubles & (1) 3B. Good follow.
