Tall lean and wiry strength look. Easy actions and movements. LH bat with good plate presence. Smooth easy hands and quiet approach. Erect stance, small bat waggle that starts at shoulder height. Erect barrel when loaded, and a smooth bat path to ball. Calm hitter, small dive over plate, with slight head tilt. Line drive hitter. Displayed very good bat speed. Straight action athletic movements and shows good footwork and glides to ball as Outfielder. Throws have carry and are online with accuracy. Mahan as a pitcher, starts from the far right side of the rubber, has a short side step start that leads into H ¾-arm slot. On his follow through to front side, shows a high leg kick tuck, abbreviated hand pump to a small recoil landing. Command appears to be on course and has three usable pitches. FB 85-86, CB 65-65, CH 77-76, SL 73-78. Off speed, pitches need to be scaled down, then decide which works well and go with it more. However, good to have feel for them. Likes to compete. Ran a 6.84 60-yard dash time.

Ohio State recruit. Physical 6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed hitter with flat path through the zone. Mahan continues to exhibit an innate ability to find barrels in-game and produce. Hands load down and back into a power position as he gains momentum through impact to produce solid gap-to-gap strength. Any rawness in the approach is quickly eliminated based on the production against quality arms.

Keaton Mahan: OF/1B, (2022) Westfield, IN. 6-foot-1, 190-pound projectable frame. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.11. Smooth at the plate, the left-handed hitter showed his power ability with an exit velocity of 98 mph. Setup includes an open stance and a short stride. Had high finish. Was able to create some loud contact during the round. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 87 mph; has a fluid exchange and rhythmic footwork. Has a ¾ slot

+ Left/left center fielder, Keaton Mahan (Westfield HS, IN) stood out as arguably the top uncommitted player on the field when the Indiana Bulls matched up against the Canes Midwest in the 16U semi-final. Mahan made multiple plays in the outfield look routine, ranging with ease and taking proper routes. Mahan is a natural in center field and covers much more ground than his posted 60 time (7.13) would indicate. At the plate, he has a top-of-the-order profile, with an open, quiet setup and simple easy swing. Mahan’s hands work on top of the baseball and he backspun an-extra base hit to the pull-side gap. Currently ranked No. 5 in Indiana and No. 178 overall.

Keaton Mahan, OF/1B, Delta HS, 2022, 6 foot 1, 175 pounds, stands tall and slightly open on the left side. Uses a small leg kick to get to launch. Barrels balls consistently, swing plane is good. Projects to have future gap power with added strength as his bat speed is above average for his age and his frame should fill out. Ran a 7.27 and had an exit velo of 91 mph. Threw 78 mph from the outfield and needs to improve footwork and release. Keaton is a high follow in the 2022 class.
