Preseason All State: 2015-2016 Best of the Rest Position Players

Michael Arnett, SS, Lawrence North HS, 2015:

5-foot-11, 150 pound sophomore shows a long arm action and throws form a ¾ arm slot at 74 mph.  Possesses soft hands with fluid footwork.  Exchange is clean but a little slow.  Fields the ball deep.  At the plate starts open and wraps his bat during the load with a front arm bar.  Lacks use of the lower half.  Hits off back side.  Swing path is uphill and shows some bat speed. Produced an exit velo of 86 mph.

Caleb Cross, OF, Cathedral HS, 2015:

6-foot-1, 180 pound sophomore runs a 7.0 60.  Uses a short arm action and throws over the top at 79 mph with some carry and accuracy.  Displays soft hands and quick feet.  Plays through the ball well with a clean exchange.  At the plate starts hunched over and drops his hands during the load.  Some use of the lower half.  Bat speed is average.  Swing plane is level and his rhythm is choppy.  Hits to opposite field well. 

Brenden Curry, 3B, Concord HS, 2015:

5-foot-9, 160 pound sophomore showcased some arm strength at 78 mph across the diamond.  Displays good hands.  Actions are still raw.  Uses an open setup at the plate.  Stride is long.  Shows some bat speed with athleticism. 

DeAndre’ Davis, SS/3B, Lawrence Central HS, 2015:

5-foot-9, 142 pound sophomore runs a 7.18 60.  Across the diamond was 72 mph from a ¾ arm slot.  Projects more of a 2B.  Moves well but needs to improve his overall defensive actions.  At the plate starts tall with a slightly open stance.  Tends to hit off his backside with an uphill swing plane. 

Jade Doyle OF/1B, Center Grove HS, 2015:

6-foot-1, 170 pound sophomore uses a short arm action and throws from a high ¾ arm slot in the OF at 74 mph.  Attacks the baseball and plays through it well.  Crow hop is slow.  Showcased good hands.  At 1B displays an above average glove and works well around the bag.  Was 72 mph across the diamond.  At the plate shows good balance throughout the swing.   Uses a short stride and bars during his load. Bat speed is average with an uphill swing plane producing good lift on the baseball.   

Charlie Grahem, SS, Zionsville HS, 2015:

5-foot-11, 172 pound sophomore was 73 across the diamond.  At the plate uses a balanced setup with a short stride.  Bat speed was average with an uphill swing path.  

Josh Hart, OF, Center Grove HS, 2015:

6-foot, 175 pound sophomore runs a 7.15 60.  Arm action is long and throws from a high ¾ arm slot at 82 mph with accuracy.  At the plate shows some athleticism.  Starts wide and uses a toe tap.  Shows an arm bar during his load and dives towards the baseball during his stride.  Showcased fast bat speed and gets to extension.  Exit velo was 85 mph. 

David Herrman, OF, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2015:

5-foot-11, 157 pound sophomore runs a 7.10 60.  From the OF was 78 mph.  Long arm action, and throws from a high ¾ arm slot.  Shows average defensive actions in the field.  At the plate uses balanced setup.  Stride is short and over rotates with his lower half.  Level swing plane with average bat speed. 

Davie Inman, SS/3B, West Vigo HS, 2015:

6-foot, 170 pound sophomore runs a 7.18 60.  Shows some arm strength across the diamond at 77 mph.  Showcased good footwork and some range.  Fields the ball deep.  Needs to improve on his backhand.  At the plate uses a wide base and rocks back during his load.  Possesses good bat speed and barrels up most balls. 

Chandler Jacks, 1B, Jay County HS, 2016:

6-foot-1, 160 pound freshman was 62 mph across the diamond.  At the plate uses a balanced setup and drops his hands during his load.  Rotates out.

Erik Kelsch, MIF, Carmel HS, 2015:

5-foot-10, 165 pound sophomore shows some arm strength at 78 mph.  Showcased good footwork and an average glove.  At the plate hits from a crouch with a smooth load.  Shows some use of the lower half.  Showcased average bat speed with some pop.  Barrels up a lot of balls.  More of a pull hitter.  Runs a 7.28 60.

Lucas Leiner, 1B, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2015:

6-foot-1, 175 pound sophomore displayed average hands at first and was 72 mph across the diamond.  At the plate starts slightly open with a smooth load.  Showcased some bat speed producing an exit velo of 85 mph. 

Samuel Orem, 3B, Greenwood HS, 2015:

5-foot-9, 164 pound sophomore was 75 mph across the diamond.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot.  Hands are average, possesses heavy feet.  At the plate uses a wide base in his setup.  Dives towards the baseball and showcases a long, uphill swing path.  

Colin Phelps, OF, Shelbyville HS, 2015:

5-foot-10, 170 pound sophomore was 80 mph from the OF.  At the plate starts closed and wraps his bat during his load.  Partial use of the lower half.  Bat speed is average with a level swing path.  Shows some stiffness in his rhythm.

Tanner Reboulet, MIF, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2015:

5-foot-6, 135 pound sophomore moves well with quick feet.  Arm action is long for an infielder and was 72 mph across the diamond.  Displays above average hands with a long exchange.  Needs to improve on playing through the ball.  At the plate hits from a slight crouch.  Loads back using a short stride.  Good use of the lower half and good balance.  Showcases average bat speed and barrels up most balls. 

Josh Sampoll, 1B, Lawrence North HS, 2015:

5-foot-9, 180 pound left handed 1B showcased well in the field.  Works well around the bag with soft hands.  Short arm action with accurate throws across the diamond at 76 mph.  At the plate hits from a slight crouch.  Stride is short with a toe tap.  Some use of the lower half.  Stays balanced throughout the swing.  Line drive hitter with some pop potential.  Produced an exit velo of 86 mph.

Chase Sizemore, MIF, Hamilton Southeastern HS, 2015:

5-foot-7, 135 pound MIF displays good hands with an solid glove.  Needs to increase his speed in order to stay up the middle.  At the plate starts narrow with a slight crouch with the front foot open.  Starts his hands low producing an uphill swing plane.  Lifts the ball.

Trevor Snyder, 3B, Ft. Wayne Carroll HS, 2015:

6-foot-3, 175 pound sophomore throws from a ¾ arm slot at 73 mph with some accuracy.  Displays average footwork.  At the plate wraps during his load and coils.  Shows some balance.  Rhythm is choppy and possesses good eye-hand coordination.  Aggressive and shows some pop potential. 

Eathan Stephen, MIF/OF, Center Grove HS, 2015:

5-foot-9, 155 pound sophomore runs a 7.25 60.  From the IF uses a short arm action and was 69 mph across the field.  At the plate hits from a slight crouch and uses a high leg kick during his stride.  Rhythm is choppy.   

Jacob Totman, OF, Fishers HS, 2015:

6-foot, 155 pound sophomore runs a 7.0 60.  From the OF uses a short arm action and throws over the top at 86 mph with carry and accuracy.  Plays through the ball well with good footwork.  Possesses athleticism in his actions.  At the plate hits from a balanced setup.  Bat speed is not there yet as it drags through the zone.  Shows some stiffness in his rhythm and is early with his timing.
