Q&A with Parkland Commit, Nick Coudret

Castle High School's Nick Coudret recently committed to Parkland College and Head Coach Matt Kennedy.  Coudret is an athletic C/RHP that possesses a long, loose, quick arm.  In February's Preseason All State showcase in Indianapolis Coudret showed good rhythm in his delivery with a fastball consistently around 83-84 mph.  Coudret has been rumored to be up to 88 mph this summer. Behind the plate he was a consistent 2.01-2.1 with his pop times.

PBR: Why did you choose Parkland?

Coudret:  I chose Parkland because I wanted to continue at the next level and I knew Parkland had a great success rate at getting players to the next level.

PBR: Where did Parkland first see you compete?

Coudret:  They saw me compete at a Legion tournament in Mattoon, Illinois.

PBR: What other schools did you consider?

Coudret:  I was considering Wabash Valley, Bellarmine, Wabash College, and Lincoln Land.

PBR: What position do the coaches expect you to play?

Coudret:  The coaches expect me to play catcher, pitcher, and some outfield.

PBR: What team do you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience during summer ball?

Coudret:  I play for Newburgh Legion Post 44 and I don't really have a favorite memory. It was a great experience playing with the guys I got to play with.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Coudret:  My older brother, Ben Coudret, has had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player. I've always looked up to him and he is always pushing me to do better.

PBR: Heading into your senior year at Castle, what are your goals individually and as a team?

Coudret:  As far as individual goals, I just want to have a successful last season. Our team goal is to win the state championship this year.

PBR: What aspect of your game do you believe needs the most improvement?

Coudret:  My mental game needs improve the most. I'm too hard on myself.

PBR: What were your stats this past summer?

Coudret:  This summer I hit .408 with 36 RBI, and I led the team in doubles with 16.

PBR: Have you decided on a major, or narrowed it down?

Coudret:  I want to be an exercise science major and then do physical or occupational therapy.
