Season Outlook
The 2015 5A and AVCTL-II Coach of the Year, Chad Christensen, will have a young team in 2016, but will have the talent to overcome his team's youth by the end of the season.  The Mavericks will have two key players to rely on this spring, junior OF and Kansas State commit Jordan Maxson and junor RHP Bryce Sell. The Mavs expect Maxson to drive in runs and be a major part of their line-up.  Don't be surprised if Maxson moves from the outfield to catcher this spring.  In 2015, Sell matched up against some of the states best pitchers in 5A.  He powered the Mavericks through the regional and battled the eventual 5A state champs in the semi finals of the state tournament, and will lead the young staff in 2016.  Maize South has only three returning starters, but will be hungry for another league title and run at the state championship.
