As we prepare for the upcoming 2017 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Season Outlook
The Mavericks dropped from 5A to 4A-I this season and will play the likes of Bishop Carroll, Derby, Norman North and Edmond Memorial in the non-conference schedule.  They finished with a 20-3 record a season ago in 5A and will be a team to keep an eye on once the post season rolls around. Led by 1st Team All-State selection and Kansas State recruit, Jordan Maxson, the Mavericks will have a pair of All-State caliber arms on the mound in RHP Bryce Sell, an Air Force commit, and RHP Chase Hampton, a Johnson County CC recruit. Maize South could count on Grant Bumgardner in the middle of the order this season and look for Brett Parke to play a key role defensively and have an increases role on the mound. A pair of juniors with All-League honors, Jack Wagner and Bradyn Wiens round out the six players with 2016 post season honors.  The Mavericks have experience, talent and depth which will make them a state contender in May.
