Andersen Headed to Sun Belt Conference

Class of 2014 infielder Brett Andersen (Olathe East HS) has informed Prep Baseball Report that he has signed a National-Letter-of-Intent to attend Arkansas State University on a baseball scholarship. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Andersen took an official visit to the Jonesboro, Arkansas campus this weekend.
Andersen was recently ranked the #10 player in Kansas in the Class of 2014 Prep Baseball Report state rankings and is regarded as one of the top right-handed hitters in the area.
He plays for Building Champions Academy out of Overland Park, KS and is the eighth class of 2014 player to commit to a NCAA Division I school from that organization. Arkansas State’s coaching staff saw him play for Building Champions at a tournament in Neosho, Missouri in late October.
In addition, Andersen played for the Royals Elite Scout Team on Wednesday’s throughout the fall. The Prep Baseball Report staff had the opportunity to see him play a number of times this fall and was featured in a PBR Kansas article on the Royrals Elite Scout Team infielders. Arkansas State plays in the Sun Belt Conference, the #5 ranked college baseball conference in Division I baseball out of 32 conferences – per the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). ASU finished 2nd in the Sun Belt Conference standings in 2012.
Andersen will join former Building Champions teammate and class of 2013 Olathe South HS product Brett Nickel on the Arkansas State team starting next fall.
